Which Mobile broadband?

Think I need a USB dongle...

Mainly for between home and office or at a client site. So really low usage but will use daily and I suppose reliability is important.

Don't really want to sign a contract.

Carphone Warehouse have a deal - 3 network - £39.99 for a stick and 3Gb over 3 months. Sounds good to me - any comments on 3?

My phone is on Flext30 with T-Mobile (no internet included). I suppose I can add internet usage to that and then access internet on my laptop via a bluetooth connection...??

If you are going to go on a mobile broadband, then, apart from your use, please, please check out the signal strength where you want to use if first of all or you will be tied to a service for 19/24 months that you can't use.

A cheap deal is no good if you can't get the signal and 3 don't have a good reputation for customer services.
  • I am very happy with my prepaid 3 network dongle. It is the only internet access that I have. No contracts, credit card or bank details, I can use as much or as little each month as I like.

You could try the 3 month/3gb ready to go dongle, £39.99 I think. The 12gb and 24gb are better value.

Dont vodafone have a good coverage with their broadband aswell?
Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies

Yep, but it's for use when travelling, mostly in the London area. For home and office, I'm already sorted - hence low expected usage. It's really for use at client or near client's sites - so I can't really check signal strength in advance because I won't know where I'll be going.

Vodafone are offering £35 for a dongle including 1Gb usage which you can top up at £15 for 1Gb. A key feature seems to be there is no time limit... this seems like a good deal for a low-usage person like me.

One other question - Vodafone say they restrict data services - ie VOIP, file sharing etc. Do 3 do the same on their £99/12Gb/12 months deal? VOIP might be useful sometimes.

    Here:

    http://shop.orange.co.uk/shop/mobile-broadband

£5 per month for existing orange customers (easy to become a customer - just get a free PAYG simcard.)

    Plus £40 quidco (https://www.quidco.com).

Works out at £50 over 18 months - can't really go wrong.

I am needing mobile broadband for the next month and i was looking at a 30 day dongle plan with orange....

So if i take the 30 day dongle plan out i need to give 30 days notice to cancel it so if i took it out today and gave my notice today it would be valid for 30 days. It would be 29.99 for dongle plus 14.68 for 3gb, plus 3.99 delivery.

On quidco it says £40 cashback with every 30 day dongle deal. Does anyone know if this could work or is there a minimum period on the 30 day plans?

This would be about £50 minus £40 cashback= £10. Would this work?

If not does any one know of any better plans if i only need it for a month?

    TIA

I signed up for a 3 broadband contract via PC world, signed up for 12 months have the paperwork to prove

However 3 have been working in my area and have had 6 months with no coverage, they wont cancel my contract unless I pay the remaining balance despite it being thier problem

The trouble is they have me on file as a 24 month contract, won't accept the proof that i have showing 12 and told me to contact PC world as its obv their error. They wanted over £300

On a whole the customer service is awful they insist its all done verbally via the worlds worst overseas call centre, each time you phone they insist that you go through the whole test process, ( I'm a network engineer i have more qualifications than the whole call centre, but they wont proceed untill I go through the scripted questions despite my records on site taking up half the memory of a super computer)

Just be careful as with all big multi nationals they just dont care
