I think it depends who you are, if you are out working all day then you aren't going to be there during busy periods and there isn't enough pubs/clubs (if any in the docks itself) for there to be a problem at night and i think the refurb of the buildings is to a pretty high standard.11K Challenge

It's all well and good to say "oh it's fine if you work all day because you won't be there for busy periods" but if the days you are off on Saturday and Sunday, you aren't going to find it very relaxing because those are the busiest days.
Even in the evenings there has still been a lot of foot traffic. from the bar right at the Yacht Club near Victoria Dock, and Fosters on the docks. It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.0 -

depends what the double glazing is like, i don't know gloucester all that well but at the moment im looking to move to the docks as it the best place in my price range, and of course asking current occupants or estate agent what the nose is like would be useless because they aren't going to tell me if it's terribly noisey.11K Challenge

Would love to move there. Any pointers on good locations for a 100-125k budget? Im pretty flexible with regards to flat size. Studio to 2 bedrooms is fine. didn't say Oxford - avoid that. East Oxfordshire tends to be pricier
but Banbury, Abingdon, Witney, Didcot are all OK in most bits, and are all growing. villages and "old town" tend to be more expensive, but plenty of new houses (newer tends to be more cramped, but also cheaper)
carterton (shipton park) & brize norton (near the air base) OK, but slightly cheaper I think - haven't looked in 15 years :-)I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

Moved to Gloucester from a run down Northern Town. Is a dump, the 'nice areas' such as Quedgeley are not nice at all. Must be more social housing in Gloucester than any other town in the UK.
If you want small and cosy, Nailsworth, want a bit of life, Chelt or Bristol.0
