Tesco - Manufacturer Coupons

Hi, just to let everyone know, as of 3pm today it became Tesco policy nationwide to only accept a manufacturer coupon for the product that it is for. According to the brief we received instore it was due to the amount of press attention about Tesco taking coupons for anything.

Well, I suppose it's no surprise. I didn't expect it would last long once it was broadcast on tv.
My Tesco never took coupons for anything unless you bought it and CS would always look at me funny if I said it was company policy.

    It's only a game

I'm sure i saw Martin on tv (or was it maybe radio 2?) telling us to use any vouchers at Tesco.

Yes this is 100% confirmed. Went into my local tonight and wonderful SA took my coupons. As she was scanning I asked her if the policy was changing and she hadn't heard of anything but about 1 minute later BUSY women that works there must have seen her scanning my coupons and came over with a copy of a letter asking the SA if she had seen the letter. She was really nice and just put most of the rest of my coupons through for me anyway :)

Heard the BUSY woman say something about man on tv and that it was in effect immediately.

Gutted as I usually get about 20% my shopping (didn't want to take the p*$$ like some people £60 shopping for £1 etc) and now my family is going to be £500 worse off a year

Oh well Morrisons has just opened up down the road.....
  • I haven't heard about this and was in there yesterday using coupons,oh well if that's the case then back to lidl I go :D

Do Morrisons take money off coupons if you don't buy the product?

oh dear, that's not good if it was him that was the reason behind the change :(

I'm amazed that he would go on the tv or radio and advocate something like that knowing it was not really a fair thing to do, and he must surely have known that some people would abuse it if it was suggested to them to use coupons in that way.

I suspect that'll be one tv/radio conversation he will not be proud of.

I'm pretty amazed that they ever did it anyway!
How can you use a coupon as part-payment for a product that you haven't actually bought?
