On another, non-smelly related issue...........I went out into the garage to fill a charity bag for collection tomorrow, and actually started to sort out some of my dad's "stuff". Our garage has been literally full to the rafters for years now, as I just cannot face it, but most of it is either rubbish or needs to be carbooted/given to charity.
So.......I have made a really good start - had the tip been open, I would have loaded the car up and driven straight down there with assorted rubbish.....but DD and I have agreed that in the week between Christmas and New Year (dump hours permitting) we will get a couple of car loads gone, at least.
So, my flylady hour today has been in the garage rather than the house, but it is all progress, so it all counts.......And actually, it is rather a big step forwards in terms of "me" at the same time, so I am very pleased to have done it.
Off to pay myself a fiver.....Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -

We are almost ready to enter a new decade. The last decade has been pretty crap in many ways for me, the house from hell, the incredible debt, and of course losing my dad........and I think I am getting ready to leave it behind and get on with a new, and much more positive time. Even New Years Eve as we entered the millenium was one of the worst I have ever encountered, due to family stuff, so we started off really badly........and 10 years on I have just about had enough of it.
So, I look forward to the new year this year.......may it be MY year.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Hey Hypno, well done on facing up to your dad's stuff. I hope you find the task much happier than you've anticipated, finding things that bring you good memories of him.
I feel the same about the outgoing decade - it has not been a good one. I injured my leg in the last days of 1999 and was unable to walk for the first few days of 2000. To counter that symbolism, I plan to run in a 5k race on 1 January 2010. Hope my hamstring is fixed in time.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
I really do hope your leg heals over the next few weeks Seaxwyn.
Doing Dad's stuff is, of course, incredibly emotional, but DD was with me and was actually stronger than I expected, which in turn gave me a bit of much needed *something*..... Bizarrely I had a dream about it earlier in the week, which sort of told me that I had to stop putting it off and just do it. So obviously the time is right, one way or another. I just hope that I can do the job, and finish it over the next few weeks, and that it is not something that I do for a couple of hours then leave for several months again.
There is an awful lot to go through, but there is also an awful lot of our own crap that has been thrown in amongst it too, so it really will be a big job worth doing - even if I don't sell much/anything.....I just need to have a clear out and be done now, I think.
I will raise my glass of fizz to you on NYE, Seax.....xSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
I feel the same as you about the recent past, Hypno: in 2010 I'm coming ROARING back!
I have a BB-related question, if I may: I won £5 tonight (yay!) and deposited £20 to withdraw the £5, but at the end of the transaction it said in order to do so it would cost me £3 unqualified bonus. I thought there was no penalty for withrawing over £20. Does anyone know what this means?
Here's a paste of the exact wording:
By requesting a payout, the following bonus funds will be removed from your account.
Qualified Bonus:0.00
Unqualified Bonus:3.00Please call me 'Pickle'

i'm hoping for a good decade ahead, if we're lucky we'll be debt free and we may even have a sproglet.
I have complete sympathy with you about your dad, at the moment my dad is with us but we've been told that we're lucky if he wakes up each day so i'm trying to get a lot more time with him before the 'orrible happens.
Pickle dont' worry about the bonus, i guess you must have not preplayed all your bonus money ( i could be wrong though) but i'm sure you'll have your next fiver back tomorrow.0 -

I had, that's the wierd thing.Perhaps they have realised what we are doing and punishing us for it by taking away our bonus? (Unlikely, butt you never know.) Who knows?
Thanks for replying anyway. :TPlease call me 'Pickle'
