So am I right in thinking that if I need deposit and play through to kick off the "fun" on KJ then its no longer risk free with no Quidc0 cashback? Or am I missing something? What's the min necessary?

You don't have to play through just deposit and withdraw or withdraw when you win and only play on free games

    Minimum is £10

When I did it I played through initially, but I am not sure if you can just deposit and withdraw to qualify for the free games - quite probably!

Even initially but you will lose any bonus given when you withdraw but to play the bonus you would have to spend your real money.

    Minimum deposit is £10

Get someone to refer you so that they can hopefully get a bonus too
