moved this over here as it seems to be the correct area

If it has been put here because it's seen as a warning, then could the op please post which area this happened in so that we can avoid it?

Yes, is that how you expect our children to be taught in schools, we should tease or shame them into learning?

I don't think that you will go to the expense of suing Tesco. But I do think that a strongly worded letter would do. See how they respond and if they don't offer you anything, I think a further letter asking for some compensation would be fine.
I’m so disappointing. I just came back from Tesco; as I was taken some suggestion from here to ask for a copy of the footage. The security manager refused said will only give it to the police. And I asked if police had seen the footage and had the copy? They said the police haven’t showed up yet.
Then I asked if they’d have a conversation with duty security working that day and did something. He said NO BECAUSE THE SECURITY HAD DONE WHAT HE SHOULD DO!! I was so shocked. Then I asked what he means the security had done what he should do? He said because the security thought the guy who assaulted me was my friend because the guy walked to the security and told him. And after that because I didn’t report or complain or catch the guy so he THOUGHT THE GUY IS MY FRIEND.
Then I said he is security and he saw the nasty things happened in front him even if he THOUGHT the guy is my friend he still should come and stop him right away and then confirm with me if the guy is my friend. The security manager then said because after I took off the bag and before I left the store the guy who assaulted me went to me and helped me put the bag back so they THOUGHT we are friend. And plus I didn’t report to them at that time so they cannot doing anything at all.
I was so !!!!ed off then told them I didn’t know at that moment the guy was the one who assaulted me so of cause I didn’t catch him and screaming again and ask for help. Plus I cannot take the reason they didn’t doing anything right at the time because AFTER the things happened I didn’t complained or reported to them straight away. And that cannot proved they did the right things.
Then he asked me what I want then. I said my point is they should stop him at the time when the thing was happing; as at the time when the guy putting the bag on me; as at the time when the guy lifting me up; and at the time before the guy drag me back into the store; at least at the time when I took off the bag and looking for the clue --even if the security THOUGH it was friends make joking-- he still has enough time come to me and offer for his help. And the manager said what if the guy is my friend and we were joking there. I said it harmless; at least the security can confirm its not criminal things. And thanks god is not real kidnap. And then they are able to say that they did what they should.
After that the manager said he cannot talk to me anymore as I’m not listening and I’m so upset so just twist his means. So I asked him to clarity his point again. He said his team is good and excellent and they had good relationship with police and their security did try to help me BUT I WENT OFF SO QUICK. So they THOUGHT we must be friend.
Then I asked to speak to their store manager, a duty manager then came over, and said he trust his security manager if he said they did what they should, then means they really did what they should. So I given up and backed home.
Plus its happened in Hatfield TESCO extra.
I will never shopping in that store again, it seems they didn't learn anything at all and certain they will do nothing to improve.

This is assault, a criminal offence, not just a prank.
Not a life-threatening situation, we now know, but would it be unthinkable for someone to be kidnapped and harmed by a lunatic in this way?
Unlikely in front of so many people, but when you have a bag over your head and you don't know what is happening to you, all sorts of horrible things go through your mind!

And people making fun of Red-Panda, laughing at her or making fun of a typing mistake, you should all be ashamed of yourselves.

My only comment is that I would personally focus on ensuring the person who did it is caught, as it's a dangerous and traumatising thing to do to people, they could get hurt, as some people pointed out. Someone could have a heart condition.
I also think you are right to seek compensation from Tesco, but I would go down the criminal route first.

totally agree with you, it makes you think about secruity, all they are bothered about are people walking out without paying, (not publics safety). and i think it disgusting that they stood there and laughed. i mean what did the idiot think he was doing:confused: was he a bit gone in the head - normal people dont do these kind of things, i am still shocked that something like this can happen in a store, and that staff were not that helpful.

if you can get compensation and justice GO FOR IT>

    hi

dont back down on this, see how many looks this thread has had, and tell tesco this, they wont like the bad publicity. perhaps pester the police a bit more to see what they are doing? not sure but would it be worth it to discuss with citizens advice etc to see if there is anything you can do about this with tescos although sadly i think you may be onto a losing battle here i really do hope you get something from this though.

Thanks nilrs for your advice I will def go to the CAB, but I may need to see consultancy first, because today after I came back from TESCO I cannot calm down at all. I walk on the street and always get the feelings like someone is stand behind me. I'm shaking whenever I think about this, because I'm so scared, so upset, and so angry with all the things -- the assulting, and the TESCO. I took a shower but turns out I want to screaming in my bath room its like something inside me gona explore, its drive me crazy. I might leave this thread for a while until I can calm down. I need calm down first.
Thanks everyone who give me the advice and suppose here. Thanks.

If this is all on cctv, i would make sure you get a copy so that you can prove it, otherwise it will be pretty difficult, and if suing Tescos they might not want to hand over evidence to be used against them.
it sounds like a surreal experience. the man sounds dangerous and demented.
I doubt very much you will get a copy of CCTV footage, IIRC only certain people are allowed to view CCTV eg police/store manager. I'm sure this would be a data protection issue.

Bizare story if I'm honest, you would think all those other people in the store would have approached this person to say !!!!!!

I certainly wouldn't think a "friend" would stick a bag over someone's head and drag them over the place kicking and screaming

red panda i really think you need to talk to someone about this, do you have an understanding doctor? i know what this can be like, when i was on holiday in ibiza a long time ago now, when i was walking down the street a drunken lad grabbed me and pulled me into the harbour, thankfully some kind person dragged me out, soaking wet my arms and legs were cut from being pulled out, it really shook me up and made me very nervous. i didnt do anything about it - it happened so quick i never even saw his face and i was so shocked, and no i was not drunk.

if you have a good friend, husband, mum talk it out with them, and try not to let it get to you - not your fault at all, the idiot who did this probably does not even realise how much this has affected you.

In my opinion, the security guard knew this person with the bag and the security guard was a few feet away, so well aware that something wasn't right. It was his duty to have intervened. Instead he didn't but allowed his friend to assault a MrT customer for no reason whatsoever and then to act as if nothing happened.

He didn't try to stop the assault, he didn't try to help the OP up, he did absolutely nothing.

It is appalling. If there are tapes showing all the evidence, then certainly this should be taken further because this is unacceptable behaviour by an employee of any company, especially when their role is in security/door guarding.

The security person, whoever hired him, needs to be brought to order.
