My beautiful little man is sitting here on the floor playing with his cars, trains, planes (etc etc etc!) as we speak! It's the best thing we have ever done and he is our EVERYTHING! He told me today, 'You're my bestest Mummy in the whole WILD world!!!'
He's made our life complete.
Feel free to PM me any time!

Great question Ladypink,
Hubby and I are still trying but I have some medical issues which have caused us problems and so we are still trying after 2 and a half years. I'm getting to the point now of very tentatively dipping my toe into the world of adoption in that I'm starting to try and find out a bit more. I'd love to know if anyone can give us a better idea of what we can expect and what factors would go against us such as age weight etc. I am considerably overweight which is unfortunately a side effect to my medical condition, this rules us out of being eligible for IVF and wonder whether this would count against us in adoption as well? I do know that obviously adopting a baby is nigh on impossible but we would like a child as young as possible.0 -
Hi becs,
As it's quite a sensitive issue to post about on an open forum, I'm more than happy to PM you too if you like! =]

Me and my husband have gone down the ivf route, i am overweight too and had to lose some before the ivf, i feel for you as I have been trying for a child for 14 years in total. I just feel like I was to be a mother to a child.Great question Ladypink,

This was exactly our view, which is why we actually chose to adopt without going down the IVF route etc (although most people do try IVF first and it was a big decision for us not to). We knew IVF holds lots of uncertainties and for me I felt it could get quite addictive (just one more try, maybe this time it'll work etc!), whereas with adoption you know that as long as you meet the criteria, you WILL have a child in the end.
We just wanted to be parents, and it's the best thing in the world!
I'm not saying I don't still wonder how it would be to actually be pregnant and carry a child naturally, because I do, but he couldn't be more 'ours' if he had be born to us, and I certainly couldn't love any child any more than I love my beautiful little boy. Oh gosh, you'll set me off...!!:o
All the best to all of you and please don't hesitate to get in touch if you feel I can help!

Your story is a lovely one we had 2 x ivf tries and i dont want to go through it again, hence now thinking of adoption, I just hope that we fit the criteria that they are looking for. I have waited so long to be a mummy and just hope that one day it can become true.
I am so happy that yours is a lovely story. Many thanks for your help.2010 - Goals
