TalkTalk Offer - everything included

We've been offered via TalkTalk:
Broadband
Line rental
Unlimited landline calls
Free 0845/0870/1471/1571 numbers
Free caller ID
Free voicemail
Free wireless router
Speeds up to 21mbs
for £25.74 per month inc VAT BUT it is a 24 month contract.
At the moment we are with AOL, Primus for calls and BT for line rental. We make occasional calls to EU countries and check with Int callchecker first.
It sounds quite a good deal but reading through the forum a lot of people appear against TalkTalk. I am not in favour of a 24 month contract - is that the normal contract time these days?
We have been with AOL for so long we haven't had a contract for a few years and just go on paying our £11 (I think) monthly bill.
Any advice or suggestions would be welcomed! Many thanks.

Well my 18 month contract is just coming to an end and I will be staying with TalkTalk forever.
I`m on the Essentials package paying £17-74 a month.
For this I get line rental included, free local calls anytime, weekend and evening calls,0845/0870 free within my calltime but best of all up to 8megs BroadBand,(my average speed is 7megs).
On top of this, I still get (but you won`t) free anytime calls to 36 countries.
Never had a single problem with TT since I joined and have recommended family members who have also switched to TT.0 -
Id strongly advice against going with TalkTalk.
Their customer service is terrible, and I doubt you will get speeds anywhere near 21mbs.
Some times my internet is so slow I would be quicker sending messages via post.0 -
For an extra £2 per month we can have calls to the EU, ie Spain etc. That takes us up to £27.74! I'm sure they said it was the Essentials Package to me so presume it has gone up during the time you have been with them.
With the free new re-router if we change our minds after 14 days we can still keep it - sounds good to me!

That's what I had read on here. It's a minefield isn't it!0 -

Minefield is putting it kindly.
Prior to moving over, we were with BT, and never had a single problem with them, or the service they provided.
Then one day we were doorstep called by two salesmen, and talked into switching as it was cheaper. Straight into a contract, and the service they promised was not given.
We were promised fast broadband, which would be 5 times faster than BT. Never got that. I download episodes of Home And Away each night from another site, and it used to take 10mins to download an episode. With TalkTalk we were going on just over 3 hours to download the same thing.
After several complaints, as the customer service is terrible, they suggested upgrading to get a faster service, as apparently the top whack package we agreed to was not what we were getting .
Paid the extra, and instead of waiting 3 hours, its now about 50mins to download, still way way off what BT's speeds were.
We are now paying more than we did with BT, for a worse service. The second this contract is out of its 12months we will be switching back.
I wouldn't recommend TalkTalk to my worst enemy. Interestingly as well that I only download Home and Away, nothing else, and they sent us a letter warning us of being in danger of the "fair usage for downloads" policy, as we were apparently going over our limit, and threatened to charge us an extra £5 a month on top as a result.
Terrible company.0 -
 Oh gawd that's not so good! I've signed up provisionally but got 14 days to cancel. My husband doesn't know about it atm as he's away but I think I'm going to cancel within the 14 day cooling off period - perhaps keep the router if it arrives within that time too!!0

I`ll stand by my #2 post.
Never ever had a problem.
Used to pay BT for line rental and calls (about £18 a month), plus Fast4 for BB at £16 amonth.
So all in all going with TT has halved my monthly phone & BB costs.
But it`s your choice in the end.0 -
I would cancel my daughter had terrible problems too - it took 8 weeks to get a phone line and broadband sorted - absolute crap customer service - steer clear.Better to light a candle than to curse the darkness. :beer:0

Those that have had problems will always shout louder than those that haven't.
I haven't had any problems worth mentioning.
Out of interest, those people that did have problems - how did you go about solving them? Telephone? Thought so. Go onto the Talktalk members forums. Much better customer service there.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0
