I know - but it just seems such a long slog at the moment - at least another 4 and a half years before I am debt freeSometimes it's hard to walk in a single woman's shoes - that's why we need really special ones!Total debt @ Oct 2008: £29,226.42 Credit Card- £[STRIKE]7493.56[/STRIKE] - £7243.56Weightloss : 0/34lbs0 -
Don't all shout at me - but been sshopping today and really missed the days when I just put whatever I wanted on my credit card
I don't think I am reformed at all
You're not the only one...did you see my post the other day? I mentally spent about £500 in John Lewis
Visited the shops briefly today and found it difficult aswell. I do much better when I avoid them altogether which is why internet shopping is very handy as I rarely order things online unless I need them or they're a bargain.
While we're confessing though, I'll say that I ordered two books from Amazon yesterday...not too bad, but I have a lot of expenses this month and it'll be a long one for me
GwenxThough no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending0 -
Sounds like you both need to start putting a few dollars aside a week so you can treat yourself once in a while... god knows I do. Especially if the debt free day is a while away... you need to be able to have some room to breathe. I think I'll be putting post-it notes everywhere though... 'do not spend, you want your label'....LBM - June 2014 DFD Goal: June 2016 (28th Bday!)

My mate just split up with a man 3 weeks ago and she is at a wedding today with all her Stepford Wife mates. I have told her she can call me at any time!!!
Can't say it appeals to me, all a bit middle aged and sensible. I'd rather grow old disgracefully X'The road to a friends house is never long'0 -

I miss those too:( Can you promise yourself a small treat for every £500 and a big treat for every £1000 you reduce on your total? I find mini targets much easier to achieve (although not weight loss ones:mad:) as they don't seem so far away and if you choose something you want it won't take too long to get it.
Do you have anything in your wardrobe which you never wear/regret buying that you could ebay? You could put that money aside to treat yourself and it helps with decluttering at the same time. Shoes sell quite well. I think things feel much easier when you are actually doing something about it and you can see things moving rather than feeling trapped by it all.
gwen, I totally agree, I spend at least £500 mentally every time I go to John Lewis:(. When I get my house it will be furnished by John Lewis. I am obsessed with their garden furniture at the moment. I don't even have a garden yet.Pay/save £20k in 2010 £5888.75/£20,000June Mini target 0/5lbs Total 23/40Ebay profit 2010: March £207:) April £95:) May £130:) June £0 Total £432:j0
