Souk, sorry to hear about your mum, awful for you to feel so helpless
I hope she is feeling better soon and the mags and vouchers cheer you up a bit.
Thanks for reminding me about Popstar to Operastar, I love it but I always forget to watch. I love the "chaka chaka" man, he's hilarious:D I am going to try to list everything properly on music magpie while watching it and then have a glass of wine:).Pay/save £20k in 2010 £5888.75/£20,000June Mini target 0/5lbs Total 23/40Ebay profit 2010: March £207:) April £95:) May £130:) June £0 Total £432:j0 -
Off again today and went to meet Mum and Dad at the shopping centre. When I got there she was sitting down looking so small. She is in agony again, not with her hip this time but with spondylitis which I've had and it's agony. She can't take any more painkillers with her other illness but basically just has to wait til it goes. She was feeling okay when they left home but by the time we'd done M and S she thought she was going to faint and then was sick all over herself so they went home. My poor mum. I feel so helpless with this as there's nothing I can do to make her better. She has a long term chronic illness anyway but that's under control but has since gone deaf and got arthritis in her hip which means she is in agony most of the time. She's so cheery but it's hard.
On a lighter note she brought me up a massive box of chocs, some old mags and £21 of M and S vouchers which was ace! Bought myself an M and S Chinese and another mag! with £5 of them today and have £16 left for a meal and wine next week when I'm off. Will either use it to feed my bro and his boyf or my other gay mates.
Going to Mum and Dad's Tuesday/Wednesday anyway. Sure she'll be okay, just awful to see her struggle.
Having an afternoon in and may make a start on the mags. It's such a treat!
Sarah having time off unexpectedly is ace! I've ended up with 3 days together this week and got loads done yesterday. X
Hi,
Have been lurking on this thread, but this post made me want to come out of lurkdom as it really affected me. Souk - my heart goes out to you, it's not easy watching a parent struggle and the whole role reversal thing is a weird situation, but you're obviously a wonderful daughter.

Spoke to her a wee while ago. She's been in bed all day but is feeling better now. She has good and bad days but thanks very much all.
Feeling loads better, had a sunbed today (funny I went as soon as I got off the bus from the shopping centre, still associate being hot and brown with good times!) bath tonight and am doing toenails whilst watching telly!
Mum is a dead capable person so it's horrible to see this stopping her. We are really close and I call her every day and we have a right laugh. She ofter texts me during tv progs she knows I'll be watching and we share books as well! I'm okay, good at having a wee cry then dusting myself off and getting on with it. Don't like to wallow for long, life's too short and ultimately she does really well and we're lucky to still have her.
On other news I do love Darius! X'The road to a friends house is never long'0 -
Hey Souk - big hugs for you, sounds a difficult situation and I imagine really hard when you know there is nothing you can do to help but I am sure just speaking to you lifts her spirits.
Am planning a big declutter tomorrow and a tidy up and then going to a friends house, both her and her flatmate are single and another single friend is coming over so the 4 of us are doing a Single Ladies Valentines thing. We're going to have roast chicken (yum yum yum) and watch DVD's. I'm not quite sure what the theme of the evening is so not sure if I should be bringing rom coms or films with lots of attitude - still I know will be a good afternoon / evening! :cool:I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills

Souk08,
Your mum is lucky to have such a devoted & upbeat daughter, no doubt she passed these characteristics to you in the first place :A .
Positive thought heading both your ways.
Your plans sound great makeupI'm looking forward to my saturday lie in with James Martin, a book & coffee in bed :j then plan some cleaning tidying, decluttering, baking & have the film Amelie to watch :j.
It's really really cold here so going to snuggle up in a fleecy blanket now

OOh James! I'm rarely off on Saturdays so it will be a treat to see him tomorrow!
Thanks again Lula! X'The road to a friends house is never long'0 -

Got to chuckle. Some rotter mailed me on POF a couple of hours ago and I didn't bother to reply as I never do if they're not for me. (Time wasting and they're welcome to do it back if they don't like me!) He's since messaged back saying and I quote 'no wonder youre on here youre ugly'. I wasn't 4 hours ago mate!!!'The road to a friends house is never long'0
