  • thanks for that I just feel left out a bit.

One of my old work friends I often try to get to see her when I am in the area but she never answers her phone. then on facebook last week she mentioned us getting together and i told her when I was free this week and still not heard anything. I can't be bothered.

I regularly at weekends go to see my mx 5 friend who does work on my car for me (its my hobby) and I have a chat with him and he shows me something new for my car. I owe him £10 but hes ok about it until I get enough money to give it to him. I can't even go see him really cause scared of driving anywhere cause its money again isnt it.

I am going to have a bath soon and paint my nails so I won't bite them and then I am ready for work tomorrow. Just registered with the green metropolis and put six books on for sale.

Ladies, wildly excited. Can't do links but go to the freebies board and there is an offer to get a free Essentials magazine and then a further 3 for a pound!!! Know lots of you love mags and don't buy them for frugal reasons so this is ace!

I earn £14,500 a year and own my home, no other debt apart from mortgage of £42k and cc £2k and overdraft £550. Am I doing ok?

I think you are doing fine:).

I know it's not great but have you thought about doing the daily clicks,, there is a long thread on here somewhere about it, it's very boring and time consuming but I think you can make about £3 a day which adds up to over £90 a month. You have to have a lot of patience though!

I am trying to only spend £20 a week on food, I keep it in a seperate purse and usually do a shop of around £15 at the weekend and save the other £5 for milk etc as needed. It has worked well so far and means I can keep track of everything.

Try the OS board for lots of tips, my favourite is the sneaky ways to save the pennies thread, it has great ideas and is very funny:)

The council tax is over 10 months yes.

I don't think I can stop the life insurance as it may be connected to my mortgage.

Home and contents insurance I will try through quidco but it is the cheapest so far.

I have o2 broadband at 7.50 because I have pay as you go on o2 mobile. I think thats really cheap.

I need a cheaper billing and line rental. I hardly use the phone and my bills are always low. What can I get thats cheaper than £11 a month rental and calls really cheap for evenings.

my car insurance is through a-plan - please bear in mind I have a convertible 16 yr old mazda mx 5 import so any other normal ins co like budget or admiral and all the others are quoting £500 plus each year. this one is £300 but I will search for a-plan on quidco.

Do you get free calls on your mobile? If so, do you need a landline?

As far as I'm aware, life insurance isn't a necessity of a mortgage.

Sorry to hear about your friends, I have some that are just as flaky and to be honest I'm at the point of thinking that if they can't be bothered, I won't. Doesn't stop the loneliness though, but just try and be open to new social situations and see if anything comes of those.

I've had a stressful week. Job issues I mentioned before, issues with my mortgage (despite being "A rated"), upstairs neighbour's bath overflowed through my living room ceiling and potentially very sad family news. I'm trying very hard to stay positive, getting down on myself won't help matters. Not looking forwards to half term though, school holidays are my busiest times.

So right now I'm glass of wine in hand and thinking bed with a book would be a good place to be next. I just wish I had someone who could wave a magic wand for me :p

Gosh, big hugs for both Tracey and Bibbitybob.

Tracey seems like you are on right track. Might be worth doing a spending diary for a while if you find yourself thinking 'where has that tenner gone?'

I make a lot of soup for work lunches which is cheap. Do you have a microwave at work? I normally cook up some veggies and then just blend it but if you dont' have a blender just leave it and you can have it chunky. I like to add some kind of protein like pulses, bit of ham, cheese or chicken. Then instead of bread (which I find goes off too quickly for me) I have it with oatcakes which are supercheap and long lasting too. And also v. good for your health as low GI.

A great soup is a lentil one, red lentils are very cheap. Cook them with some onions, tin toms and whatever veg you have lying around (carrots, leeks, parnsips). Cheap and filling and healthy.

Also try to remember that you are going through a really difficult time at the moment with your Dad and to try and not worry too much about financial stuff at the moment. This is a very demanding time for you so take that into account.

Does your gym do classes? They can be good for feeling a bit more sociable??

Do you do the survey sites? There is a board on here about them, they bring me in a few Amazon vouchers which you can either use for treats or else towards Xmas / B'days.

Also what about Dooyoo? basically write reviews on everyday things (massive list to choose from) and get equivalent of 50p for each one. You can either redeem money as Amazon Vouchers or get a cheque.
I've got my own flat :j:j

Now I have to pay the bills

And feed my interiors addiction ;)

As far as I'm aware, life insurance isn't a necessity of a mortgage. I will check on this but its important to keep paying it.

Sorry to hear about your friends, I have some that are just as flaky and to be honest I'm at the point of thinking that if they can't be bothered, I won't. Doesn't stop the loneliness though, but just try and be open to new social situations and see if anything comes of those. Yes I keep in and if they need me then they know where I am but to be honest nobody is interested in my life at home. I am alway open to new social situations and love meeting people. I am going to try and look for friends of my own age.

So sorry about your stressful week, work does not help and some people are married to work and they can't understand why us normal working people like to have a life at home. I have my daughter with me from wed next week till weekend which is good for me as she lives with her dad.

So right now I'm glass of wine in hand and thinking bed with a book would be a good place to be next. I just wish I had someone who could wave a magic wand for me :p
I want a glass of wine too! I wish I had someone preferably male to give me a hug but I never meet anybody on the same wavelength as me unfortunately so I have given up hoping for that.

hi thanks not been to the gym as I can't go straight after work (using more petrol really) so may go sunday and walk it there in the morning. No classes but free swimming but i hate the baths as they are always freezing cold.

Can you tell me which surveys you do?
I will look at dooyoo thankyou too.
I am feeling little better and am having pasta for lunch tomorrow with my last yogurt.
Any ideas what container to use to take milk to work and keep fresh on my desk airtight as people nick the milk if in the fridge, its uht. :)
