  • Apologies, have been lurking, am exhausted. Expected Christmas madness not helped by closure of entire A1 which added 3 hours of sitting in traffic.

Currently have friends over and looking forward to hanging out at home for NYE tomorrow. Have some ideas for list but think am going to declare 2010 my year of sorting Back to Basic Needs ie. must eat properly, sleep enough and er, find someone to help fulfil my other needs :D . All in a Frugal and Fabulous (TM Lula) manner of course.

Hope you have all had fab Christmases and (with apologies to any superstitious Scots who don't like it being said early) Happy New Year  to you in case I don't get on here tomorrow night.

Why on earth would any parent assume that spending time strapped into an uncomfortable wheeled prison at knee & shopping-bag-in-the-head-height is an enjoyable trip for a toddler  !!!!!! you evil tormentors, take them to a park or stay in Mac bluddy Donalds :mad::mad:. It's not fun, it's cruelty & if you insist on stuffing sweets & crisp in their mouths to shut them up then yes, at some point they are going to go hyper or be sick :doh:duh .
:rotfl::rotfl:have never understood why parents do this, esp on Oxford Street when child also gets poisoned by exhaust fumes. Glad I am the rational one after all

2009 although not brilliant, has seen me put a final nail in a bad bad bad relationship :) regain a lot of self worth from having counselling, get to grips with what's required in order to deal with debts, try out new things & finally get a decent ish job & also make a lot of new friends here who have always & without fail uplifted me when I am down :A

    Hi Lula,

I see you're "F Fabulous" (I've been lurking )& as always dispensing pots of "Lula" wisdom :D

Yes, my avvie is one of my cats, I always pick the black ones at the rescue centre, the lady there said they seem to be least popular for rehoming (along black & white ones), apparently everyone wants tabbies, gingers, long haired ones or kittens

Oh dear, your poor friend, makeup. Thank goodness, she has such good friends. Things do eventually turn around (I hope :o). 2006, 2007 and really 2008 were really tough for me. I was skint...so skint, living in this horrible house, couldn't see anyway to do it up or get out of the mess I was in. I also lost a number of loved ones and people that were important in my life during that time and had to support a close family member through recurring bouts of severe mental illness. Work was a complete nightmare, I was working for the same manager as I do now, but I had no idea how to say 'No' and as I found out, he will push you as far as he can. Some of my so-called friends let me down, which was really disappointing, although when I look back, I totally 'closed up'. My real friends have always been there though. I reached rock bottom spring/summer 2008 and ended up at the doctors having barely slept for a week, crying all the time...a total mess. My proper friends were fantastic and I realised I needed to cut myself some slack. I've been gradually rebuilding my life since then and I can see a glimmer of light round the corner of the tunnel. If I can get through this, I can get through anything. Onwards and upwards, things DO get better.

    Gwenx

Gosh, Gwen how awful. Sounds like you had an awful lot to deal with.

    Absolutely, onwards and upwards.
I've got my own flat :j:j

Now I have to pay the bills

And feed my interiors addiction ;)
