Fire Fox, from what I've gathered from people of both sexes I've known who've cheated, He'll be sorry because he was found out & sorry that there are consequences he doesn't like, but people who cheat do it because they like to & aren't sorry for doing the deed.

Thanks to everyone again for the support, I know it's sounds crazy but it means the world. :A He wasn't found out, he wouldn't ever have been caught but confessed. I wish he hadn't, ignorance is bliss.

Without going into boring detail Elvis has now left the building, my neighbour caught me crying in the lift shortly after and has just helped me sink a bottle and a half of wine.

I know what you mean but I intend to get next year's ISA full as soon as possible and my savings account is one where you lose a month's interest if you take any money out of it. I might do it though if I manage to get the full £5100 of ISA allowance for 2010-11 in my savings before next April (which I doubt) just to save any faffing around.

So open a different savings account . There's plenty of them out there that are more flexible. I change savings accounts as soon as the one I have isn't topping the best buy tables any more. On a slightly different note though, if the money isn't gogin to be touched for 3 years, why not look at using your full ISA allowance instead of just your cash allowance?

    Hurray for wine :D

No point me joining in with the savings money talk, I still have a shed load of debt to clear  but both SBc & Skinty have managed to clear theri debts so they probably know what they are talking about ;).

I think I might need a stern talking to. I have managed to live without using any child benefit ( £20 a week) for the last year & was planning to use this as emergency savings / holiday fund for next year, starting with this months payment. I know I probably should throw this at the debt too, but just feel I need to have a few hundred stashed away to cover the rent & bills in case things get grim workwise. My main job can be very unpredictable .

I have sort of come to terms with not having a holiday abroad next year ( cat is a very good excuse for only having long weekends in a tent ) but wonder just how much people think I should have stashed away. If I have a figure to work towards then maybe when I reach that target I will then feel more confident about throwing any surplus at the debt. Snowball says another 30 months until I'm clear, but I want to be free in 22 ... any ideas ?

:D Part of it is research as I was looking at becoming a financial adviser until Northern Rock made loads of them redundant & flooded the region with loads of them on the jobs market at once. Mostly though it is down to begrudging the banks a penny of money that could otherwise be mine after the way they treated me when I was in financial trouble.

I've heard a lot of experts say 3-6 months salary & I got to 6 months before using it for the deposit on my share of the BTL house. Currently I'm hovering at just over enough to pay 3 months of bills & mortgage payments.

In this case I would probably throw everything at the cards to reduce the debt and if you have an emergency use the cc. I understand about the comfort of having savings but I would think of it as storing the money on the cards and using it to reduce the interest at the same time. If you really do want to keep it to one side I would say have 3 months worth of outgoings there.

    Thanks guys,

3 months of outgoings including the cc payments equates to roughly half the debt . I have more than that available on one of my cards should I need it, so am I being really dumb & not seeing the obvious way out of this

I havent used any of my Child Benefit allowance ( worth £20 a week) for general living expenses or debt repayments this year, it's been used for holiday spending money/fun so should I just grit my teeth & use that as well towards paying the debt or stick to my original plan of saving that for emergencies / holiday ?

I seem to have lost my way a bit :o so grateful for any advice/lecturing,

I would use it to pay the debt, I expect your cc is at about 12%? You are never going to get that by saving it, so I would pay it off the card, say you use 10 weeks worth, so you pay £200 off the card, you are also avoiding the interest on that £200, if you need the £200 you can just spend it on the card, while it was on the card it reduced the interest so you will still owe less than you would have and if you don't have any emergencies you will be paid off earlier, then you will have the child benefit and the money you used to pay towards the cc for your emergency fund. Hope that makes sense:D

I am good at giving advice, I am just terrible at following my own. :o I could use my ISA money to pay off my cc but I want to use this year's allowance. Am probably being silly but I like to have that security. I think I might put my cc in my sig to motivate me.

Just so you know it's me I shall say this...I looked at my toiletries stash again today and almost fainted, it hardly seems to have gone down:o my room is untidy, there are shoes everywhere, I am watching self help videos on youtube, I have wine and I need to lose 30lbs. :D

Phew, was getting rather concerned there ;)

I've just edited my snowballs to include those extra CB payments & guess what .... that takes my DFD down to 22 months :j

It still feels like a lifetime at the moment :( but I'm sure there are savings still to be made somewhere in my budget .

I'm off to bed now & cant wait to not wake up to the sound of an alarm tomorrow morning. I just love saturday mornings :D

thanks for all your help & advice :A

    night night
    xx
