  • I am looking to generally freshen up my bathroom, but one of the challenges is the bath witch is scratched and generally scruffy looking. Checking the internet I have found a company called Surface Doctor (surfacedoctor.co.uk]) who have given a quote that seems reasonable - I had cheaper quotes, but am nervous about the quality.

The relative lack of disruption, as opposed to having a new bath fitted with all the plastering, tiling and plumbing work needed, appeals to me, as does the idea that I won't be adding my existing bath into landfill.

But I don't know anyone who has had their bath resurfaced - does anyone here have any experience of this either generally, or with Surface Doctor in particular?

    Thanks

My metal shower head fell and hit the base of my bath leaving a 10p sized mark. The screw fitting hit the base, so whilst the damage is only about 1mm deep it does show the threading of the screw fitting.
    Any suggestions for a recession-friendly repair ?
    Many thanks

I ended up going with Surface Doctor and they did a great job resurfacing my bath - as part of this they also repaired a couple of dents / chips, so it may be worth giving them a ring and see if they can help you as well.

    Hi,
I have a 70's cast iron bath that I like but not the funny blue/green colour :eek:so I was thinking of getting a company to re-enamel it in white. Cost approx £200.
The websites for the companies say how fantastically they do the job and how good it looks but I can't find any updated feedback from someone who had it done a couple of years ago.
I know people have posted about this in the past and I was wondering if anyone actually had it done a while back and know how it stands up to use.

    Thanks
    Trish

The results sound a bit hit & miss though.
Maybe all it wants is a ( dont take this the wrong way !! ) 'professional' clean ???
    Just a thought.

Thanks for link to old thread.
Unfortunately no amount of cleaning will stop it being turquoise :(
  • I had my bath resurfaced about 3 years ago, it was chipped and tired, and it still looks fabulous now!.......It's gleaming white, damage free and smooth.

I had it done by a small business in Hampshire (not a big company) and paid £200.
Really pleased, because my old ceramic sink was also chipped and that was repaired too and again looks fantastic and not peeling or anything, would highly recommend, but I did shop around to find testimonials and experience.
I used bath angel very friendly and helpful.

It's easy to clean, and a dam sight easier having the bath repaired than having it ripped out, it was dry and ready for use the next day.

  • Had my old metal bath resurfaced by renubath about 8 yrs ago cost £250 has lasted well but now colour is staining and the surround of the bath is peeling. Not sure wether to have a new bath or have it redone again? Is there anything new on the market?
