Thanks for the useful information. However where our bath is it's far too difficult to remove it and I do want to do something in situ. Therefore specific experiences with different companies is really useful. Has anyone used "Diamond Gleam"
http://www.bathreenamelling.co.uk/about_us.html
They are quoting £340 approx.
I know I can buy a bath cheaper but really don't want to buy a new bath!
however obviously this is a huge amount of money if we have the same poor result some have!
I did consider the Tubby kits which get good reviews in this thread (thanks for combining) but don't trust my ability to not make it look shoddy!!0 -
Hi, I still want to get this done but scared of choosing a duff company! Anyone know anything about 2 above? Anyone know of websites where you can find local reviews? I am very keen to get this done as bath is completely boxed in inc bit of wall, would be a TOTAL nightmare to replace the bath even if a new bath is a cheaper option - we would have to completely redo the bathroom!!:eek:0

Hello people,
I'm after a bit of advice. I'm currently renovating my very first houseI'm trying to save a bit of money on the bath as the one in the house is ok.....apart from one little chip.
I was wondering if there is any product on the market that would just touch up the bath instead of having to buy a whole new one. Its a little chip, about the size of a pinkie fingernail; I think its a steel bath as the chip hasn't gone all the way through. It just doesn't look great and will draw my eye in my shiny new sparkly bathroom!!
Any ideas????

Hi there,
new here so be nice
I bought a B&Q ex-display bath, its an acrylic Cooke & Lewis double ended bath. It should have been £450, but I got it for £112.50, good bit of money saving there I thought :T
My only issue is that it has a couple of smallish scrathes and one chip on it. I've been looking at acrylic repair kits and wondered if people have ever used any and can recomend using them. If repairing the bath isn't realy an option I can get my money back when I go to pick the bath up as it hasn't been taken out the display.
Many thanks for any advice, I'm not wanting this to be a false saving and have a lovely bath, but it has a few small chips/scrathes in it when I could get a new one thats maybe not as nice, but is chip/scratch free for a little more.0 -
If you google 'magic man' or 'acrylic bath repairs', you will come up with local companies that repair baths, sonks, upvc doors, laminate worktops etc. They will have it looking like new and should only cost £50 or so. Worth it considering the cost of the bath when new.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

If an acrylic bath has minor scatches you can solve that for no money at all, rub the scratch out with wire wool and then polish with a very mild abrasive like duraglit or even brasso if it's still made, I used to do this when I worked for a plumbers merchant.:)0

Would you still get the high gloss finish that acrylic bath have? Or would you sand and apply something over the smoothed down surface to give it shine?0 -
anyone got any more advice... I'm picking the bath up tomorrow and want to look at trying to fix it up over the weekend...0

Hi Jason
Im in a similar position to you here, i dropped a pair of pliers in my bath and chipped it! My plumber is adamane the mark can be removed with very fine wet and dry followed by car polish. Think ill let him do it!!
Are you having a plumber in to fit your new bath? If so I bet they'll be able to sort the chip out!0
