Well, I decide to get it done professionally this time, so used mend a bath. Service was prompt, good value and looks really good - we'll see how long it lasts, but has a 5 year guarentee!0

I was thinking of changing my pink 1950s bathroom suite ( inc cast iron bath) but the price is quite expensive. I still like the design.
I have been looking on the internet and there are lots of companies offering to re enamel your bath for around 200 pound.
There before and after pictures look very impressive and some say it last for upto 15 years.
Has anyone ever had this done?, I would be very grateful for peoples help and advice.
Many thanks0 -
Help - anyone please0

Hello salsa1
I've merged your thread with this existing 'Bath Resurfacing' thread. If you read the posts on here, it seems it isn't always a successful option I'm afraid.

Hi, I want to get our old bath resurfaced in situ and there are so many companies saying different things. Obviously I don't want to pay over the odds but I do want a good finish which will be hardwearing and last, so I wondered if anyone had experiences of having their bath re enamelled?
Any advice appreciated. Many Thanks0 -

Thanks, had a look but don't want to send away for re enamelling - my wrong use of term. Want it resurfaced at home. The site you listed has a link to Timesonline, which recommends Renubath. Have emailed for rough quote. Would still like any personal recommendations if anyone has had this done?0

We used renubath but it was years ago and we are in a different house now.
They did a good job though and were clean and tidy - the bath looked as good as new and it was an old 30's steel bath. Only thing we noticed was that the bath was slightly more likely to stain so if you got anything dark coloured on it eg brightly coloured shower gel you wouldn't want to leave it on there for a day.
Unfortunately I cannot recall how much they charged.

as a previous poster has said, ive never seen a proper decent re-enamel job done on any bath. and certainly not worth the money some poor peeps have paid out.
unless your bath is very special, just replace it.
if its a very special bath, then use a real enamel company that takes it away and fires it.
be prepared for a serious invoice.Get some gorm.0
