Choosing OS over Technology

You'll be made more than welcome :j
I'll merge this thread to that one later.
Hi Penny - I know about the daily thread. However, this thread is specifically for noting down your daily experiences and daily challenge of reducing TV time and using that time for other things. I think it may be helpful to have this as a separate thread for that reason. If you have to merge because there are too many threads, that is OK. : ))0 -

You're assuming that we all have a TV habit - what about reducing computer hours

I love the poem budgeteer it did make me smile!!!
I will be swapping half an hours tv/computer/video game time to teach the kids makaton this afternoon we have half an hour most days to try and help DS to learn different makaton signs. We have swapped an hours tv time so far today for baking brownies and reading.:jmember of the thrifty gifty 2011 :j0 -

I confess my son is picking up his makaton from Something Special so using the TV for that :rotfl: That's my excuse and sticking to it
(By the way he doesn't need to learn makaton but he likes the signs and is having a go himself).
I confess its computer time and not TV that stops me getting more stuff done
Budgeteer - I LOVE your poem :T:TI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

You're obviously already on the case, and an inspiration. We will probably watch the Poirot (concluding part of 'Cat among the pigeons') and then switch off for the evening. I will be knitting a tea cosy:D and we must make some time for snail bashing in the garden:mad: I will swap an hours time today from my usual TV/computer.0 -

Ok, I've given this some thought, and a thread aimed at reducing TV usage isn;t really sufficiently different from myriad other existing threads to warrant a thread of its own.
If you'd rather not be added to the Daily, which changes every day
would you prefer this thread on reducing reliance on technology? Or the 5 Pleasures thread?
Just let me know - take your pick

Budgeteer - I LOVE your poem :T:T
Something special is great a real life saver well it has been for me with my son unfortunatly his speech is very delayed so we have major melt downs because no one could understand what he wanted then he started coping mr tumble so i must confess we dont miss an episode!! I have also just completed a beginners course in makaton it is great that although your son can speak you are encouraging him to learn Makaton it means children like my son would be able to communicate with chidren who dont have the difficulties he doesYou're obviously already on the case, and an inspiration. I have just cut DD's computer time as she was spending more and more time on her laptop and it had got to the stage that she was spending 99% of her time on the computer so have cut it to an hour and a half a day!!! and have kept to it for the last week the school hoolidays are going to be hard as I will constantly be thinking of things for her to do to keep her of it !!
Today DS has nursery this afternoon so need to keep him busy when he gets home or he will sleep then so am thinking maybe some glueing and sticking but need to think of something else to do to..............But not sure yet what.:jmember of the thrifty gifty 2011 :j0 -
