  • Awww babes, I didn't mean to upset you either. It's just that the whole of your hubbys wage will be taken up for the mortgage alone, not just for a few weeks/months, but for 25 years!

We can only go from what posters say in their questions and answers;-
i promised myself never never again yet i seem to be starting again with catalouge debts here and there and a very big urge to spend!!

RE THE SOFA IM HOPING TO CLEAR THE SOFA,COMET AND MAYBE CREDIT CARD WITH THE PROFIT FROM THE HOUSE

I would hate to see you in a worse postition in 5 years time with another loads off cc's becuase you needed essentials, and your didn't have any disposable income. Thats all I was triyng to get accross.

You have admitted that you are addicted to spending, so couldn't understand why you would want to go from a 90k mortgage to 177k mortgage.

As long as you realise this, and do something about your spending now, then all should be ok.

Sorry if i upset you, it wasn't intended!

  • But you would have probably only got the £90 you have used out of the speedbank over the past couple of weeks anyway, so swings and roundabouts, don't beat yourself up about it.

You are NOT stupid. We all do things that seem right at the moment we do then. Then we go on regret what we have done.

Check the small print on the insurance cover for sickness and accident. You might want to think about loss of earnings one as well. Because putting my brutal hat on if you one of you looses your job you are well up the swanny. And could loose your house.

Right I have to pop out but will pop back later to see how things are going.

    Take care.

No you're not stupid and now you've found this site you're certainly on the right track. Agree with Calley here, this has happened to us - I was made redundant while on mat leave with baby no 2, and we'd stretched ourselves with a new mortgage and taken on a house that needed quite a bit of work hence the debt in my sig! We've just about survived and I hope to be working again soon but if we'd mortgaged ourselves to the hilt I don't think we would have (we still have about 85-90k equity in our house so knew downsizing was an option if push came to shove).
I hope it doesn't happen to you but please get prepared as you can by getting your debts down and getting some savings in place so that if anything does happen you don't lose your lovely new home.

    Hi Second chance

Heres my story. Two jobs, two good salaries. Big mortgage -as big as your new one. OH made redundant, insurance covers mortgage for twelve months. Me pregnant (after 3 years of trying). Still no problem. 10 months down the line on maternity leave (still managing - just paying minimum payments) lose my job with no wages, no redundancy, no benefits - nothing. BIG PROBLEM. Three very very stressful months later, OH and me back in full time employment. Cut up all cards determined to be DF. If this wasn't a wake up call nothing ever will be.

There is no moral to the story. What's done is done, what will be will be. But if you can let it be with a bit of preparation then you are halfway to victory. If you have to move, then move, but if you are planning a baby, pay your debts off first and then start on the Mortgage. I am hoping to pay my debts off by June 2008 and then start on the Mortgage.

I think what I am trying to say is that what everybody said might happen has basically happened to us in the last six months. It was extremely stressful but everything happens for a reason, and I will NEVER, EVER go back to being the wasteful person I was.

You can use wireless on any broadband connection, as long as you have the right equipment.

Personally I think it's wise to have some emergency fund savings as unexpected things will inevitably crop up ;)
