DFW running club part 4!! ALL ARE WELCOME!!

Hi all, just checking in. Got here (the US) late on Sunday. The mornings are dark and the roads around here are not suitable for running, the place was designed with cars in mind!
So it's been treadmill running in the hotel gym for me. Never done it before. Felt slightly dizzy after stepping off. Is that something I'll get used to (treadmill running pros)?
Should have no trouble getting up to my planned mileage, but I will be looking forward to getting back on the road again.
It's fun being on expenses and all that, but I do miss my wife. Especially when I get back to the hotel room. It's only been 2 nights, how pathetic is that?!
Hope you're all doing well.Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -

Oh Beer Tins, I felt so sorry for you when I read your post. How long are you away in the US for? My OH works away but only during the week. You do get used to it but sometimes I just need that arm around me or a big hug if I've not had a good day. I also miss him being there if I have had a good day or some good news. Still, it makes the weekends worth waiting for.
My planned tempo run didn't quite turn out. I went down to run club but on the last Tuesday of the month (I only used to go on Thursdays so I didn't know) it is a technique session, so sometimes it is hills, sometimes strength training, sometimes sprinting, etc. Anyway, last night we were looking at posture and running style. It was good, and made me think about where to hold my head, lifting my legs, kicking off, how my arm movement affects my style, etc. It didn't really count as a training run, but we had some fun and it re-focused me on thinking about technique. It is easy to get quite lazy, especially when you get tired so a style refresher made a welcome change. I'm itching to get out for a proper run though so I might go out tonight for the tempo run.
Simply - I must get my Garmin programmed for an interval session. It sounds like it will be well worth it.Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

Thanks Chick, it's only two weeks and I land early (like 6am) on the Saturday. I don't think I'll be doing that much travelling in my job, so it'll be fine. I'm meeting various friends in New York, starting Friday night through to Sunday evening, so the weekend won't be a problem. It should be good, they go for Halloween in a big way over here!
The bits you said are exactly what I miss most, but like I said, I'm sure I can stick it out for 2 weeks. It's just that it's the longest we'll have been apart since we started going out, so we're not really used to it. I call her every day, so we still get to chat.Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -

I know the feeling:o:o
Sorry run didnt go as planned but it sounds good work all the same:D, stride length and technique are interesting things to think about - mine has got a lot better from when I did the shorter intervals - running at speed you have to run well or you fall over! :rotfl:

I'm dreading dh being away, again only for two weeks but it will be the longest we've ever spent apart and he's not been away from the kids. I suppose work and the little ones will keep me busy though
Just back from Chester, had a lovely time and have some lovely new Brooks trainers to try out in a few minutes. I went to the triathalon shop and the bloke got me on the treadmill to look at my gait etc, hard jogging in jeans and a jumper!
Hope everyone's having a good day, see you soon.0 -
Tbh I get more tired when I run at say 9 - 10 min mile pace as I tend to glide less then when im going at 6 - 7 min mile pace...
