Do you get the same level of support, though?

Just interested as the thing that I enjoy about the larger races is having supporters all along the course - really makes for a nice atmosphere - what are the crowds like at blackpool?

Far better - because you can actually see the people you are there to see.

    VLM was impossible -
At 7 miles I couldnt see Becky despite her passing within 10ft of my nose at some point.
At 18 miles I saw Becky but she didnt see me.
At 22 miles we eventually both saw each other, but only because she was literally 1ft in front of my face.
At The Finish - it took 45 minutes to meet up despite having a specific meeting point and then a further battle to move out of the collecting area. Very stressed and aggressive environment for both runners and spectators.
The whole thing is very anonymous and to run it is remarkably lonely - those who have done it will probably know what I mean.

Whereas Blackpool is a typical race - no hassle, relaxed and friendly. You can easily pick out the person you are supporting and if more than one person is running you see each other out on the course (no chance of that in London). 2,000 is just about the right size of field to get the great atmosphere without the grief that is now inevitable at the big events (unless you get speedy and jump ahead of all the grief that is!)

You said that about London as well!:p

Its a new course this year that goes north to just about overlap the Fleetwood Marathon course so we should avoid the hen and stag party 'supporters'. Bless 'em!:p

Blackpool is large enough - and the field is well friendly and the crowds (while not along the whole route) are fantastic :D

My OH doing the Edinburgh Marathon for the 3rd time in 2010 and thats a really good one. Great atmosphere, flattish course and well organised
Good wine needs to breathe, if it stops breathing try mouth to mouth.

Been for a little run - 3.5 miles in 30:08 - nice and steady but my bag was hurting my shoulder so I stopped early - think I'm going to have to back to old one for a little while when I get back from holiday :D

Im sat here thinking about entering the Blackpool Marathon, we can go out the night before and get smashed in. Last time i was there, i had a pretty drunken night losing my friends at 4am.

I see that club runners get it cheaper, might have to mail and ask them will i be eligble. If so, thats one cheap entry.

Looking for a few places in between..
