You only get the top if you donated (bequeathed) your entry fee to charity...so they keep you're fee, you dont get a place but as a thank you, you get a 'nice' top for doing your bit for charideeee

Interesting comments/reviews on the Windsor Half on the runners world website. Comments about the heat and water situation this year which are certainly fair points (as was getting out), but I thought arrival and toilet situation was pretty good. Perhaps shows my inexperience? We did arrive earlyish though. And the scenery, marshals, and crowd were definitely real positives.

Interesting! Some people always find something to complain about - agree the parking seems like an issue, but heat in Spetember isnt really their fault ;)

I'd quite fancy this one but its too expensive for me :D

Agreed on the some people are never happy thing - the negativity was what made me post the link here. Also agree, not cheap, but was convenient for me. I've just checked as Reading 2010 is now open for registration - that's £30 this (well next) year...!

    Why? Do Blackpool instead!:D:D

You've experienced the hassle and problems with the mass participation events recently - enjoy a free flowing normal race instead, its exactly the same challenge!:D

    Thanks Krider,

That thanks made me feel a little bit better. I had a chat with a guy at work, my running plans were -

    1, 10k road race - Completed
2, Great North Run - Completed
    3, London Marathon -

Anyone know of any cheap charity places.?

I would hate to pledge £1500, and not to make it. I could just imagine pledging £1500, and giving them £400 again...

I wonder what they could do.?

    Becki.?

Rich - I know, thats a good one if your going up and down the sea front. Just means ill have to cancel that accomodation now.. :)

Do you get the same level of support, though?

Just interested as the thing that I enjoy about the larger races is having supporters all along the course - really makes for a nice atmosphere - what are the crowds like at blackpool?

I cant believe that some people expect organised warm ups!:rotfl::rotfl:

Go to an aerobics class if you want to writhe about to Mr Motivator not a road race! Bupa Great bods have a lot to answer for!:p

And what is wrong with cups of water? You're only trying to have a sip not avoid spillage...

It is amazing how much complaining goes on about the actions of marshalls who are, almost always, volunteers giving up their time to help the event.
