Because of the way circumstances have fallen we're going to have a crack at completing ELEVEN different parkruns just in the months of December and January.
Tomorrow and Saturday's will be numbers 6 and 7. Since Bromley was one of those we'll be trying somewhere different, otherwise I'd be there...I certainly like the course.:D
Evab - It is a bit like shock because of that sudden increase in volume of oxygen that is being pumped around your body. You'll soon get used to it again though......:D
Cool, hope that goes well for you! You'll both be the authority on Parkruns after that. Actually, you already are! looks like I won't catch you at Banstead tomorrow, but if you do Roundshaw or Wimbledon over the next month, give me a shout. Might even be persuaded to try Richmond or Bushy, it's not that much further than Wimbledon for me.Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -

Its nice to have pipped Billy Bremner on the all-time list - its always nice to get one over on Leeds Utd no matter how tenuous:

So by the end of Jan, we'll have done 15 different events, so there's just 5 out of the 50,000 registered parkrunners that have enjoyed that many events (and 2 of those are the founder and his wife!). Its great fun I have to say......:D:D

:hello: Hello
Can I join you all please?
Complete newbie (though I do hve decent running shoes bought on a whim a year ago....). Looked at the parkrun thing but none near me [and being a complete running novice dont think i should be starting one up!]. I live in the middle of nowhere, no street lights so i have to find somewhere to go running where it is lit!
Starting a new job next week so one day after work I might run around part of the site (it's absolutely massive!) as it is well lit etc.
Will try the whole run 1min, walk 1 min for starters. Current fitness level 0 or less than 0!
Wish me luck and good luck to everyone else!
Happy new year. xxx D_party_SOA

Hi DCBI,
Its great that you want to get started but if you want to get fit without getting injured forget about running for a while.
You are in the same boat as Annie, who posted yesterday, so you may like to read through the responses on the previous page.
Good luck.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Huddersfield Town have to take their small victories where they can these daysActually, they might well go up along with Leeds this year. I'll enjoy watching them, unless we manage to make it to the Premiership (hey, I can dream!).

Good stuff. There are 8 within the M25 alone, so I might give a few more a shot too this year.Edit: Richmond or Bushy could well be on the hitlist before end of Jan...will let you know.
Sounds good, although Bushy gets a tad busy. Or another way to say it, it is the busiest by a country mile:

DCBI, welcome. Newbies are always welcome. As Rich suggested, walking is the best way to start getting yourself prepared for running, lots of walking! You should be walking 4 miles briskly about 3-4 times a week before you gently start running. You need to build your legs up slowly if you want to avoid injury.
For the same reason, please don't do walk-run-walk-run. If you already do lots of walking and want to start introducing some running. Start with some gentle jogging, really slowly for as long as you can. Once you're done, just walk the rest of the way. On your next session, do the same and try to build the running distance up slowly that way.Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -

Thanks, rich. Looks like we'll all have the chance to post up a decent WAVA early on in 2010! I know I have asked you this before, but please can you post up the formula to allow you to project your time over 1 distance to several distances? I want to post up some targets for 2010, as I hope to complete a 5K, 10K 10 mile, Half-marathon and marathon this year. Not that I've entered anything except the marathon at this stage!
P.S. I did try to search for it, but nothing came up!Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -
