Web chat ...one of the benefits of having a plus account LOL!0

Its out of date mate.
The correct link for Bank account is here right: http://www.hsbc.co.uk/1/2/personal/current-accounts/bank-account-page;jsessionid=0000MdCPqsHeosxGNDy2FKpdMJx:12ntf1n0a
Look at the top tabs and you'll see The current account tab is white - under this you see the names of accounts: Bank Account / HSBC Plus / HSBC Premier etc etc
However, from the old current account link: http://www.hsbc.co.uk/1/2/personal/current-accounts/current-account;jsessionid=0000RSgtYbm2e30eqPGZf98x5X6:12ntf1n0a
These tabs show the old current advance advance etc - its an old link!2010 - year of the troll

Web chat say the same, they cannot figure out why the link is there, but they say bank Account replaced Advance Account and the one lower than that is a Basic Account....
Though, you need a behaviour score of at least 41 to get any bank account, to get this you basically need a half decent credit file....2010 - year of the troll

They gave me the premier account for a while. I had temporarily deposited my savings with them. Absolutely no difference an ordinary account, its just a snobbery thing. Supposed to have a relationship manager but he never contacted me. Took them a year to realise I'd moved my savings elsewhere !0

Believe me, its not a snobbery thing. They can call Premier whatever they like, I would still hold the account.
Reasons why Premier is different from an ordinary account (for me):
UK call centre
Better rate on Regular Saver.
I'd guess that most people are like me and like to have access to a relationship manager, but would not welcome regular contact from them (which would surely just be sales calls anyway?)
If you qualified for Premier via savings, I believe HSBC give you a grace period (can't remember how long) which means you avoid charges during that period if you subsequently fall below the qualifying criteria - which probably covers much of the year you mention and seems sensible if they are looking to build a relationship with you. (I dipped a little below the £50k savings threshold in my HSBC InvestDirect account a few months ago and was granted a 6 month grace period from charges on contacting a Relationship Manager).0 -

.
So how much is this " better rate " then?0 -
So how much is this " better rate " then?Fix your interest rate for 12 months by applying for our Regular Saver Account, Bank Account and Graduate Bank Account customers can earn 4% AER/gross. HSBC Premier, HSBC Plus, Graduate Plus and HSBC Passport customers can receive a preferential rate of 8% AER/gross.0

I'm still getting a 10% regular saver with HSBC even though I no longer have the Premier Account. It continues as long as when you started it when you were in Premier. (Regular Savers are never going to make you much anyway)
As for the other preferential rates for Premier customers here's an example :-
Flexible Saver 0.04%
Preferential rate for our v. special Premier customer 0.08%

4% better - the 8% Regular Saver is no longer offered on the 'Bank Account', as it was when it was the 'Advance Account', it is now paid at 4%, see http://www.hsbc.co.uk/1/2/personal/savings/regular-saver
Thanks, £250 month limit isn't going to make very much in a year.0
