Just a thought - but maybe those of us who have been hit with charges from these criminals should compare notes - I dont use this credit card a lot - these are the companies I haved dealt with online in the last 3 months

    Inksmart.co.uk
    PCworld
    Audible
    Edinburgh Tattoo
    7 day shop
    amazon eu
    Tesco Entertainment
    Asda Home deliveries
Paypal purchases charged to this card

Any one else dealt with any of these companies, before being ripped off by hpmp?

I've used some of the above companies but none correspond to the time these charges started to appear on my card.

I contacted the card issuer again and they said "If the merchant does represent the charge with your details we will be in touch at that point to discuss the next steps to assist you to cancel your agreement."

I have just found exactly the same charge 39.99 euros taken on 4th December and same again a few days ago. Have no idea who they are. Credit card company open on Monday - I'll call!

Clearly a scam - shame the CC companies aren't able to prevent it.
  • I cancelled the card in question early December so the money couldn't be taken off at end December. Neither the card issuer nor HPMP have contacted me yet. I'll need to email the Disputes Dept lady and see if she knows who this company are yet.

3rd month ...... why won't the credit card companies treat this as a fraud?
  • I expected to hear something from either the bank or HPMP when they (HPMP) tried to take money at the end of December and the end of January as the request would have been rejected as the account is closed but I've heard nothing from either.
  • Following details taken from their web site.

N.B. They seem to be using an invalid security certificate so take care if you browse the site. I hope your French is good!

Some time ago a couple of banks found employees selling customer details in India by the hndreds of thusands. I'd suspect the bank security not the places the cards were used to shop. A website can't steal from a card without you inputting your details..someone, somewhere has had those details to do any of this.
Another common way recently has been cloned or stolen card details by couble swiping at garages or other outlets by dishonest staff.

I would tell the bank I was off to see the police about this if I were you. It's theft, they are not even trying to stop it. Watchdog or someone like that would lap it up and scare some action out of the banks too maybe ?

Feel for you, it must be horrible.

Thought I would give you some information because some of the peoples posts on this are way off the mark.

This merchant I have dealt with quite a lot. They are always chargedback as " Transaction not recognised"

Now let me give you a little bit of information about this chargeback as it is the ONLY chargeback you can action with this payment as no one can find any information about the merchant.

This chargeback is a request for information pure and simple. Either the merchant will present information to validate the charge or they wont- Within 45 days if they do and it comes back with the customers information end of story- IF it comes back with someone elses information it is ONLY then will it be taken on by any fraud department.

There is not any other way around it- your bank is only going to treat it as a fraud payment if there are loads of other transactions unrecognised to you or it comes back with 3rd party information relating to the transaction.

This is the same scenario for every transaction that you call up your card company and tell them you do not recognise a transaction, in some cases the fraud department jump the gun but from my experience, fraud team will not touch an account before a chargeback has been done on an unrecognises transaction(unless the customer contacts the relevant merchant and are advised it has been fraud or they hold details that are not the customers).

Its not about scaring the banks into action, they just have to take the required action within Mastercard/Visa rules.

Anyways thats me all the best- If you need help see Headieboys posts he has explained what he/she has done which is exactly what is required for you to get the funds back for this payment

From memory I do not belive they are "processed" as a recurring payment although they do debit each month, so blocking the account and asking for a new card should do the trick, Dont be blinded by the crap online that you cannot stop a CPA by cancelling the card.

It is all purely down to how the merchant "Process" the transaction and im about 90% sure that it is not put thru as a CPA.

    Good luck.
