HPMP Help

Options
Has anyone heard of a company called HPMP? For the last 2 months I have a charge on my credit card for 39.99 Euros (which I'm obviously disputing) but the card issuer are asking what I've done to contact the company. As I have no idea who HPMP are I can't contact them to stop these charges:mad:!

  • If it is fraud you have nothing to worry about.
If you did sign up for anything on the internet then you need to contact the company to sort it out.
    Have you googled HPMP ??

I don't remember signing up for anything via the internet. In such a case I would have an email from them which I would have kept in case I wanted to cancel in the future but I've searched my emails and can't find anything. A Google search of HPMP comes up with a hospital payment plan thing in the US or a HCFC phase out management plan, neither of which I would have signed up to. The only other reference to hpmp I can find is to do with some computer game.

I've also never previously signed up for any credit card continuous authority (& I've had various credit cards for around 18-20 years) so unless I was very drunk then I can't see me changing now. I'm contacting the credit card disputes dept this morning to dispute the 2nd charge and to make sure no more are accepted on this account.

Just deny everything to your bank. Say nothing that they might use against you.

That's not exactly helpful. I don't know who the company is that is taking money out my credit card account so can't say nothing they might use against me. I've faxed back the form the credit card issuer provided and have been told to expect to hear from them by this Friday. Asked if they could block any more of these charges but was told the only way to do that is to freeze the account so i wouldn't be able to use it at all.

That's the best (only) advice you've had and it's great advice because it moves full responsibilty to your bank. If you mess around (or are lying here) then your bank may decide it's your fault.

Jemma-T - I appreciate that yours was the only advice but I believe that I should be open with the card issuer. I have nothing to hide from them and want their help. I honestly don't know who HPMP are & don't know why they would be charging my credit card with 39.99 Euros per month for the last 2 months so why would the card issuer decide I'm at fault? Why would I come onto this forum and ask if anyone had heard of HPMP if I was lying? What would I gain?

Mabski - After the advice given by Jemma-T, why would I then lie to the card issuer by saying the card has been stolen. Surely it would be better for me just to get the account blocked?

PS Just checked my online account and there are 2 chargebacks on the account. If I eventually find out who HPMP are or why they have tried to charge me the 2 amounts I'll post back.

Reporting your card stolen wouldn't achieve anything anyway.

As the authorisation took place before the account became compromised or closed, these recurring transactions would be assumed to be genuine and would continue to be charged to the closed account.
People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.

That's simply not true. People may not notice things immediately and the bank will have to act when the matter is reported. If it means going back several months then they will have to.
  • Another charge of 39.99 Euros from HPMP on my account this month. I'll need to contact the Disputes Department again tomorrow morning to find out exactly what's going on. Now thinking it may be best to freeze this account as I hardly use it anyway.
