I don't think 2 year olds really mind present's not being for them...as long as they are the ones who get to rip them open!!:rotfl:

DS1 was 5 when I had his little brother (he got a Power Rangers toy) but I found that most people got a small thing for him as well when they were visiting the baby. One of the best items was a book titled 'The new baby' which my son loved.

He never got jealous...from the start he called it 'his baby' and he didn't like anyone else holding him.

The baby is nearly one now and loves his big brother to bits - I well up when I see them rolling about the floor together and giggling.:D

I bought DS#1 a book called "I'm a big brother" or something like that. He also got a book without words called my new baby and he identified with the big brother in the story coz he decided the brother in the book looked just like him. and the rest of the family looked just like us (it was a bit creepy but YES the family do resemble our family) so much so that when DS#2 came along DS#1 gave up his rabbit so that the baby could have one and we can match like the family in the book.
The ONLY problem I have is finding present ideas for DS#2 as they have LOADS of toys and Grandparents like to get them something to play with!
All the best for you and yours.

My som (now 14) got a baby doll from his baby sister when she was born . that way they can join in . get little premi nappies and an old terry nappy to use as a changing mat . Also one of those magic milk bottles you can get to feed the baby doll . That way he felt he was caring for his baby too,

We bought a cuddly Disney Piglet toy for our eldest when second was born and placed it in the hospital cot when she came to meet her sister (2 year gap), she hugged "pigget" and kept saying thank you baby, it was very cute, also told her that youngest had bought her apresent as she thought she was going to be a great sister to play with, aged 8 & 6 now, they have brilliant times playing together, some awful moments but on the whole they are great together oh & said toy still sleeps with her each night it's now called piglet though & has one chewed ear :)

Good luck with your new arrival.

Oh I agree the presnts didn't cause jealousy, mainly clothes, she got the gift bags to carry things round in!

my ds was nearly 5 when dd came along, and her gift to him was a fireman's dressing up set from ELC as he was into dressing up at the time. He was as made up with the outfit as he was his new little sister!
Recently we found it hiding in the cupboard and the smile on his face when he saw it made me laugh. He's put it in his keepsafe box as its a 'treasured item' arrhhhhhh.............
