Yellowbug will know all about that
"I know that Prince Charming doesn’t come save me, we save each other and fight back to back against all comers that’s what marriage is to me. Nothing passive, no being carried off on a white steed, give me my own damn horse and lets ride into the sunset side by side." - Laurell K. Hamilton.0 -
My son has converted a 16 seater bus into a camper van. In creating the bed/seats and toilet and kitchen, he had to remove teh rear seats. It has only three seats at the front and each one has a seat belt. This means that he can only have two passengers additional to the driver. He wold not b e allowed to have people sitting in the rear bit because there are no conventional bus seats there now.Aren't all camper vans the same?0

i couldnt resist coming in for a read when i saw camper lol
If thats what you want to do hun, then I say go for it
As a few people on here know I am having a vw theme, so we are using beetles and campers (all owned by friends so very mse lol)
as long as there are seats to sit on (and seat belts if its of an age where it legally requires them) and you aren't over filling the camper then go for it
you really should do what you want to do, and i reckon with a few ribbons and stuff it will look cool
what kind of camper is it...im nosey and wanna google it lol
clareyPINKfairy - beetledrive are great for hiring bugs and campers, they have 'big ron' a stretched new beetle which is stunning
Married on 5th March 2010still lurking on the wedding board tho :rotfl:0 -
You need to be careful..if you are carrying a number of people then the driver will have to hold a PSV licence. You would also ineed to be insured for business use. What happens, if god forbid it breaks down? Putting it mildly you would be stuffed - at least if you used a proper company then they would provide an alternative if their vehicles break down.
Not all firms charge the earth either - you could even hire a taxi..you can get 8 seater ones.
Also if you DIY then someone has to forego any alcoholic drinks.
goodness me..... Well thats a load of rubbish! PSV licence to get a lift to the wedding.... yeah whatever(!) And if it breaks down - well couldn't any vechicle break down? I remember a bus that I've been on that broke down, and a train, oh and a plane when I was going on holiday (thankfully it was grounded)
And the whole point of doing this was that my friend could provide a service for my wedding so we wouldn't have to pay out for any vechicles. The van has got five seat belts which are all LEGAL.
And as for drinkies, plan was....CUE FANFARE *duh duh durh durrrrh* drive to registry office in van. Drive in van from registry office to reception venue. Get beer out of van. Get additional beer out of van. Get drunk. LEAVE VAN OVERNIGHT AT RECEPTION. Friend picks van up next day. Not my problem as I will be on a hot island somewhere.
I was asking for peoples feel for the tack factor - not the ins and out of insurance and logistics. I wouldn't be an event manager if I hadn't done a "risk assessment" of every single peanut in sight. I didn't think I'd have to justify every single step of my transport arrangements.
Opinions welcome, logistics of said transport are not!
BTW.... should my friend have a PSV licence for giving us all a lift to Tesco or the train station ?!?!I run an event management company, I put on events, I go to events, if I don't know anything about events - its not worth knowing!:j:j:jNegotiate, Negotiate, and Negotiate again.:j:j:j0 -
I still stick with my original comment - sounds completely ace! :T:T I especially love the 'getting beers out the back then drinking them' part . I'm sooooo jealous, I'd love to own or even have access to a camper van. Maybe that'll be my next project once the wedding's over

Have an ace day, sounds like it'll be loads of fun! :beer:Updating soon...0 -
Cheers courgette, its only a kn*ckered old thing but hey, its a giggle and I might have a bottle of wine or ten in the fridge lined up next to the chocs! We'll get some balloons and ribbon and PIMP MY CAMPERVAN woooooooo! (Sorry I'll chillax now)I run an event management company, I put on events, I go to events, if I don't know anything about events - its not worth knowing!:j:j:jNegotiate, Negotiate, and Negotiate again.:j:j:j0

or sleep in the van after the reception
i did suggest a honeymoon in our bug and eriba caravan but my other half said we should have a bit of luxury ..... so we are renting a cottage...but still driving in the bug lol
its your friend giving you a lift, nothing else there is no reason for any extra insurance or anything like that
i say cover it in ribbons and things (and fully stock the fridge) and have fun :TMarried on 5th March 2010still lurking on the wedding board tho :rotfl:0 -

your idea is excellent. i just realy want something different to a limo or classic car - i'm into retro and funky
There is someone in Glasgow who have both a vintage beetle and a matching vintage VW minibus that they hire out for weddings. Looks pretty good. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett
