camper van for wedding transport

Right, tell me if this is madness.

I'm an event manager and I've seen a lot of tacky over priced cars for weddings and there always needs to be more than one car as there are always loads of people. Its not a VW or anything, I don't even know what it is tbh...!

My bridesmaid has a camper van... what do you think if we "deck" it out as a "wedding van" - we'd not be paying out for loads of cars, one trip and then everyone's there etc... and it would be quite funny! :T

Please tell me if you think it sounds awful or MSE or just damn right odd.

Unless you are going to install proper seats and seat belts and turn it into a mini bus, I would think you might be taking an awful risk. What if there is a collision on the way to the wedding?

I think it sounds ace! I'd love to turn up in a camper van. As it is, I'm walking (but it's not very far!)

You need to be careful..if you are carrying a number of people then the driver will have to hold a PSV licence. You would also ineed to be insured for business use. What happens, if god forbid it breaks down? Putting it mildly you would be stuffed - at least if you used a proper company then they would provide an alternative if their vehicles break down.

Not all firms charge the earth either - you could even hire a taxi..you can get 8 seater ones.

Also if you DIY then someone has to forego any alcoholic drinks.

Good points but if its just friends giving a lift, then why business use insurance? If its 5 people in it then PSV licence not needed. A good serivce and RAC/AA cover before the day, should cover the breakdown issue (any car 'could' breakdown) Night in hotel solves the non-drinker problem ;)
Not being difficult just looking from another angle :D

  • i'm hoping to hire a camper van to turn up to my wedding, either that or a stretch beetle - both look totally fabulous, and they both fit lots of people inside.

your idea is excellent. i just realy want something different to a limo or classic car - i'm into retro and funky
