CW - I also think you have done the right thing - it is leathal out there. There other reason for me would be the fact he is 21+ and in the army, lol. You work hard in the week and manage on a very tight budget and you have back issues on lengthy journies...He doesn't want a 6 hr wait but doesn't mind you doing an x hr journey on his behalf and then presumably cooking him dinner when you get in too! Mum's need looking after too I say.
I'v just been out for the first time in a week and it is a literal ice rink round here. Was only going to a friends 5 mins away but I had to hold iron railing all the way. Solid ice on all pavements and roads.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
not 21 'til March - but yes, he still expects to rule the roost and have me at his beck and call :rolleyes2
a neighbour went out to her Mum's in the car (not sure how far, but know it's local and her Dad's walked up here a couple of times), and she said she was slipping !!
latest from DS is a pick-up in M'cr at 1am  I'm not in a panic about it though, as I don't reckon he'll make it. In order to get there, he has to get from the airport (plane due to land at 9:55pm, and baggage in hold as far as I'm aware) and find a way (other than by train, as the only connection leaves the airport at 10:04) to get 10 miles to B'ham New Street for a 10:30pm train..... My route planner says the journey takes 26 mins, so I have every confidence he'll miss it even if he's only brought hand luggage
ETA: Just checked flight. Scheduled to leave Hannover at 20:50 (19:50 our time), and as at 20:04 here it's showing as 'started' whatever that means !!
OK, so checked the earlier departures from today - and nothing seems to change from 'started'. So I assume that means 'departed', which in turn means I need to watch the B'ham site for ETA rather than the Hannover site for departure times now
Update : now showing on B'ham as scheduled arrived 21:55, expected at 22:35.... looks like I'll get a few hours kip tonight(After I finish clearing off his bed, end empty the bathroom which has become an intermediate sorting station this afternoon !!!)

You are quite right Cheryl,
The wayward ones in my family are my parents! You should see it here, it is a whiteout! Mum insisted on going to the bingo tonight - I have no idea how she will get home, she'll probably have to stay at her friend's house.
The other one (dad) went out today to the pub over here instead of staying where they now live (11 miles away), my phone started ringing around 7.30, it was him and I didn't answer as I was not going out in the car, he called about 6 times, then my door went, he said there are no taxis, so he is now snoring in my spare room. They are both worse than children.I certainly would not go out in that snow, the house is the place to be! To top it off, I gave my dad my dinner, I ended up with sandwiches. DH said the dinner was lovely, my dad will probably not remember eating it.
Never mind, I hope they learn their lesson and become sensible. Rant over, have a good and safe evening everyone. xx0 -
Hope everyone is safe and warm
Mr SFT has gone to see his family in the next county. I refused but he insisted as they are exchanging presents and then he is going around a friends house for a meal. All very nice but if they really cared....IMO

We went to mr.t and bought a few woopsies and some stuff for ds1 and dil as they should have come to tea but we decided since more snow was forecast and traffic was already down to 5mph in town we dropped off the makings for their tea and told them to make their own. We made it home but only just because a car in front of us slowed on the hill because of a small speed bump and nearly lost it sliding all over. Fortunately dh knows how to drive in snow so we were ok but I still worried in case he spun round and hit us.0

Part 2 of last night's story..................
My door went at 11pm last night, guess who it was.
A lorry jacknifed on the way home in the taxi for my mum, so she got the driver to bring her here, she said it was a nightmare.
DH has just left with them in 4x4, so hope they get back okay. I am going down to get the bus to the shop today, the main roads are fine, it is a nightmare getting out of the housing schemes though.
My mum said that she will listen to me from now on.;)
Have a good day everyone. xx0 -

Hi Everyone!
Cheryl-What's the latest with DS?
Well Mr SFT got home at 12.30am..he took it easy on the roads.
Busy making vegetable soup today and catching up with household chores. Also got some presents to wrap and some Christmas emails to send.
Mr SFT is desperate to watch Muppet Christmas Carol....:rotfl:
I'm getting a bit of cabin fever in that I can't go for any walks at the mo due to the ice..still its been fun planning. We've decided to walk our county footpath (of 80 miles) next year..probably do about 5 miles of the trail then take a circular route back to start. So we'll complete it over 16 days I expect...The last part is close to a YHA bunkhouse so I expect if we stay there for a couple of weekends that will help.
Can't wait to start it now..
SL ..You're family sound as crazy as mine. You are so lovely at putting people first.

Thought I'd best update!
I got home on friday night, after a bit of a scary drive through the snow. It's so nice to be at home and to be relaxing and not having to worry too much about doing stuff for school, and getting up early, etc.! I had the best night's sleep last night, and it really does make a difference.
Got my hair cut today, cost £30 but she does it really nicely, and I don't get it done that often. I have been spending more - getting christmas presents and end of term things, so my budget has shot up. I only have just under £120 left if I'm going to make my target for this year! The next few days are going to be expensive as well, so I think it is going to be a bit tight in the end.
I am honestly not sure whether to join in next year, and if I do, what budget to set at all. In the next year, I'll finish my teacher training and will hopefully find a job (fingers crossed.) this will almost definitely mean moving so that means more costs. Its so complicated now! I'll have to think about it over the next few days.
I hope everyone is okay, and relaxing before the madness begins.
