Trip to North Wales 24th June - 27th June. Activity ideas?

Hey,

Last posted something like this when OH and me went to Llanelli in the Easter break ... and some of your suggestions were brilliant so I thought i'd try again.

We are going to North Wales definetly between 25th and 27th June, although we may extend this to the 24th of June and camp for the first night. Staying in Bangor Travellodge on the 25th and Halwyn on the 26th. One of the days would be spent in Llandudno, a place we both love. The others we are open to suggestions!

Have recently purchased a North Wales AA walks guide - which we hope to use if the weather is nice. Wet weather suggestions v.good ... its bound to rain at some point on the trip!

A must do is to take a ride on the Welsh Highland Railway, currently it runs from Caernarfon to Ryd Ddu.
No visit to NorthWales is complete without going to Portmeirion.

The Welsh Slate museum and the Electric mountain ( underground tour of the largest pumped storage power station in europe) at Llanberis.

You could send for the North Wales movie map and discover where they filmed Carry on up the Kyber, Willow, Lara Croft etc. They are putting up commemorative plaques.

Glynllyfon Park near Caernarfon has a very good cafe (The Black Cat) a steam engine restored by Fred Dibnah and pleasent walks through the grounds.

The Ty Coch Inn at Porth Dinllaen is actually on the beach and is where Demmie More shot a film last year. They have a webcam.

If you go Beddgelert (The grave of Gelert) visit Lyns Cafe for a Scone and clotted cream tea.

If none of that floats your boat visit me at my castle near Bangor. i.e Penrhyn.

There are loads of camp sites, but there is this one attached to a favorite watering ( and eating ) hole.
I've had some good meals here , but be warned its very popular at the weekend.

Depends what you enjoy doing,

If it's sports have you tried Plas Menai at Bangor (https://www.plasmenai.co.uk) or skiing at Llandudno or walking in Snowdonia or visiting castles, i.e. Conwy, Caernarfon, ice creams in Cricceth?

Does your AA book have the route to walk around the Great Orme in Llandudno, also got the mines there?

Conwy is around 5 miles from Llandudno they have a boat trip around the quay for around 30 - 60 mins.

I know "doing snowdon" is a bit obvious but the path that goes up from Ryd Ddu
is a lot more interesting than the usual tourist routes & if you get a clear weather day set off really early(start walking before 6am!) & "bag the summit" then have a well earned cuppa in the cafe before any of the punters arrive on the train we did it a few yrs ago & the early morning views were v special
Its a tough old world, no one gets out alive!
