I would love an OH in my life, if for nothing else but to give me a big hug once in a while!

However, the two big relationships in my life left me in debt and I'm too scared to get involved any more.

By the time I'm over it and debt free once again, I'll be old and past it!

I'd rather stay single than be a burden on some guy with my huge debt.

I've no money to ever go out so the chances of meeting someone is pretty impossible anyway.

I'll probably die with my debts.

I think if you'e with the right person, where you spend time with them isn't too important. I was with a wonderful man and we were both lacking in the finance department, so we planned around this and made sure we had fun anyway. We looked locally for anything that was free and went there/did it!!

I met him through friends, as I have other boyfriends, so there is hope even if you haven't the cash to go out.

My take on it is that I want to spend the next 2 years concerntrating on paying off my debts, if I got a boyf I wouldn't want to do my 2nd job which is working night duties, an OH would be a definate distraction, I would want to pay my share of dating, and I'm a big fan of mini-breaks, dinners out etc. I want to save up to travel a bit afterwards and will hopefully meet potential OH's then. On the other hand I have moments when I think I'm 31 now, most of my mates are settled and I'm on the shelf!!

My god, that sounds like me!!! Having got through being in debt & now saving to go travelling - I can honestly say, you are so doing the right thing!! xx

My ex-dh left me with the debt, so brranger, you're a great guy for taking on the debt.

Has taken almost 6 years to pay off, during which time i had the 2 ds's to look after.

Now am in great relationship with fab guy who is REALLY good with his money (he's got savings, ISA's, pension, mortgage, credit cards that he pays off each month....does just what we all aspire to!).....and i found him on t'internet! the site was faceparty.com....we virtual-dated for a couple of months before meeting up in April 2003 and are moving in together in October (ooh-err his credit rating + mine = possible problems!)

The children WILL grow up, you'll find someone to give you a couple of nights off (maybe a mate's wife/partner so you can go for a pint?), there is a light at the end of that long tunnel!

If lots of people are worried about meeting a partner when they have debt why don't we see if Martain can set up a new section of the website to find friends / partners. Or you could just do it through a thread? "Lonely Hearts"
