ms london and southernscouser sitting in a tree K-I-S-S-I-N-G....

Sorry, I will grow up now.

My OH has no debt, has paid off half his mortgage etc, loaded basically. When we met I lived at home and all I earnt was mine. Then I moved into my flat, didn't curb my spending and before I knew it I had wracked up £6,000 in debt! He knows about it and has offered to pay it off (but to be honest I would rather owe the bank than him). I am also too independent to let him pay for me all the time, if I can't afford it, I won't do it. He does treat me every now and again though. This summer we are foregoing the usual holiday in the sun and are going camping in the UK, and to be honest neither of us could care less, we just want to spend a week away together (ok, it seems romantic now but if it rains.....).

But then how many people are staying with their OH because of their debt? I know my parents did for years (cheaper to live together than to have to run two households).
    Saving for an early retirement!

When you meet someone, you're dating the person not his wallet/her purse. Life can throw some unexpected things in your path, so judging a person by their debts is unfair.

Obviously some people can be a bit wreckless with money but that's what dating is all about, getting to know each other to see if your personalities and lifestyle habits 'fit'.;)

ok so we think that if the right person comes along then debt should'nt be to much of a worry, but I should look for someone with the same ideas of fun, Like sci-fi, cop dramas and computer Games with a passion for saving.

No Trisher (marrage wreck tv) Etc.....

I did - roversbloke and I were about to seperate & we had to stay in the same house because neither of us could afford to move out or buy the other one out. We talked about the debt, talked about us & tackled it as a team. As a result, we became close again, started to enjoy each others company and have a laugh together.

We're still together, happier than we've ever been and I'm expecting roversbaby in 2 months time. The debt & lightbulb moment actually got us closer.
