we have lost channel 5 after retune!

I think most of these problems are due to people believing the EPG which gets updated overnight. Retuning the box will have put it out of step with the EPG as a number of programs have been moved to new MUXs. Hopefully last nights update will mean that the programs are showing against the correct channels today.
I noticed when I retuned that the guide said Channel Five was on 729 and tht 5 had no program information. Selecting 729 showed the message about Channel Five moving and selecting 5 showed.... Channel 5.0 -
I retuned and everything was OK except although my T/V shows channel5 I can't record it.
All I get is a black background with the message 'Channel5 has moved, retune your T/V'.
I have done this 3 times on both T/V's I have, to no avail.
How exactly are you trying to record it and using what? (Video recorder, pvr?):idea:0 -
He has fallen foul of the problem I outlined in my post which appears just before yours - the EPG will be out of step until the overnight update.0

I retuned after seeing 5 disappear.... everything is now in black and white and appalling quality!! Prompts were completely different from what the "easy" guide said!!!
Exactly the same happened to me.
This is ridiculous. I have a 2 year old digital receiver/recorder (Digihome DTR0207) that was working perfectly. I retuned it last night (30 9 09) and now all my channels are black & white with a hint of green - even programmes I'd recorded weeks ago. The image quality is also very poor. Retuning has wrecked my system.
Who will compensate me?
There is NO WAY I'm retuning the freeview boxes in the bedrooms.
Someone has some explaining to do, but of course they just hang up when you phone them.0 -
Simply retuning cannot have caused that problem - you have messed up some other setting while doing it.
"all my channels are black & white with a hint of green" is typically what you will see if the TV is set to RGB or composite and is getting S-VHS or vice versa.0 -
I am also having problems with my PVR, it was all OK before the retune, since I did full auto install and even after the overnight update I don't have EPG for channel 5 and ITV3 (channel 10) - all the other channels are OK, just shows no info available, which effectively means that I can't record any progs on these channels,
Any ideas how to solve this please?0 -

Try doing a default/factory new install, it will possibly clear all previous settings, be warned.0 -
I've done the "restore factory settings" option three times, clicking on OK every time, except once when I added my postcode (no word about this in the videos or instructions provided) and since the first time I have B&W bad quality. Our box was barely a year old and is not in the list of affected ones someone published. I've ended up disconnecting and using the usual 5 channels....0

Sorry to hear that, you could try returning it to the place of purchase for a refund/replacement.0 -
Have just tried a fourth retuning... the control does not work....I can't believe this... this is our second box, bought in December in Comet for 35 pounds... the first one cost 17 and never worked. Never got out money back either from Amazon merchants (steer clear from them!).... no Comet nearby to go and try to complain. I would make a big bonfire with these boxes and throw in those who sell them too!
Comet have only 0844 numbers... the alternative ones you find in "say no to" have been disconnected (as is usually the case)... it gets better and better!0
