£2 from Lightspeed so total is now £69.82/£155. Think that's probably as good as it's going to get this month unless I can redeem any more from Lightspeed!
ISA savings: £25,139 Other Savings: £1750 (tied up in bond)

    Hi Jesa,

I'm really sorry to hear about your father and can only wish you strength and comfort as you deal with this tough period.

I just wanted to say, speak to an accountant as any "monetary gifts" gifted to spouse and or children up to 7 years prior to date of death are also liable to inheritance tax. There is a tax free amount (used to be £3000) but anything above that is liable I believe..

The best thing to do is to speak to a tax expert to best advise you how and what to do.

Really sorry for your hard times and I wish you all the best.

I didn't know that. I should have known the government would get their hands on his money somehow! He's not got a lot to show for 68 years but they are not getting their hands on what he does have if I can help it. I don't know of anyone to ask but my uncle has an accountant so I will ask him to find out for me, thanks

Thanks Floxxie - we definately have nothing to worry about, his money is no where near those sort of figures :)

I've finally got some money to add - a little bit of interest on my savings £10.79

    Hello Everyone,

Been following this thread with interest for a while and would like to join this challenge. I realise I'm too late for October but can I join for November? Will a brand new thread be started? I have stacks of stuff in my house that I have got to get rid of and this could be just the incentive I need to get off my butt. I'm going to set a target of £10 per day and list two things a day on ebay. Good luck to all.

    Jesa (((((hugs)))))
  • Had my interview for 2nd job yesterday - it was awful - like being interrogated.:eek::eek:. It was so bad it was funny (but not at the time). Won't know the outcome until JANUARY would you believe! Put it this way I won't be holding my breath until then..... But who needs a 2nd job anyway when you've got 2pin Bank Interest to add. :o

  • Hey all!

Just wanted to say, I've not done this challenge 'officially' this month, for the first time since I started doing it in January...I've started a new postgraduate uni course as well as working full-time and we're also moving house next week (our purchase finally went through, YAY!) so I haven't had the time to (a) earn any extra, or (b) keep a track of everything this month. But I will hopefully join in the December challenge, when I have a couple of weeks off uni to do some serious Ebaying!

If I was keeping a proper track this month, I would have £32.50 cashback to add from switching my mobile contract to a new network, and £50 from selling my unwanted upgrade phone! So I am still doing quite well in spirit with you all, haha :)

I've got quite a large portion of money to add. Dad's closing all his accounts and giving me all his money so I don't get hit with inheritance tax when he dies. I'm not going to add it as its too sad but it is going in my savings towards our house which is what he asked me to do :(

Aw hun. Your dad would like to think of you being secure in your new house with the money, but it's still really sad. Just read back a few pages and saw what you put about your wedding - I really feel for you hun. My dad won't be here to give me away for my wedding either, he died when I was 16 :( so I know sort of what you're going through, it's rubbish. Just wanted to let you know am thinking of you anyway hun xxx

Attempting to pay off our debts! Balances Jan 2018 -
    Family member £3,700 - Virgin CC £1,000 - MBNA £1,700 - Barclaycard £2,500 (was £2,700) - Halifax CC £1,280

Thanks glitter. The Macmillan nurse had an idea for us to get married in the hospital chapel. She said even though we had booked everything we could get married before at the hospital then have a blessing in July if our vicar agrees. She said others that she has known have still had a big ceremony as if it were their first wedding. Just something to think about, I'm not sure if I want to or not but its a good idea. I don't think I have got long to think about it though because he's been given a couple of months and I can't think straight anyway.

To top it all off I now have a stinking cold so can't see my dad in case I give it to him. Definately not good for someone with a tracheostomy and his chest is already really bad.

On a positive note I do have some money to add:
    £7.90 from free stamps
32p Boots points (lots of lemsip and throat sweets)
    £6 Virgin scratch withdrawl
