DPixie - not sure what our long term plans are at the moment but, like you, I love the fact that I know (if only virtually) other people from this thread here!

Talking about haberdasheries - when you get to France, see if you have a branch of La Tissuterie near you. Poor Jean doesn't have one, but our local branch is fantastic - it sells everything you could possibly want (apart from wool, for some unknown reason). It's well worth a visit and I might suggest to them that they start stocking wool!

So dpixie Good Luck with your list which must have 1 million and 1 things on it. The spinning sounds wonderful. You could always do some felting as well. Lovely, just lovely.

PSSO Hope horrid cold is better.

    Morning all,
Dire nights sleep last night as poor mum's tummy still not right so its off to the docs today. Am trying to persuade her to effectively move here and go for day trips to sort her flat for selling..shes mulling it over but would be much easier to register with GP etc so that we can get tests sorted locally and she can they stop paying council tax etc on her place..
Did more of basket last night - smaller but suspect there wont be enough wool so may have to cobble sommat as trying not to spend (we'll ignore the £5 yesterday as it was in the sale after all!!).
Other than docs a quiet day today...felling a wee bit delicate after the sherry last night!
As for al pacas i would be VERY VERY jealous...there are gorgeous, soft wool but beautiful faces with those lovely round eyes...Would love to learn to spin from scratch but alas no money and no space for a wheel!! Possibly on the to do list. Ironically my sister had spinning lessons when small but now does very little crafty stuff while I love anything crafty and was in my element yesterday with the pottery!
Oh yes before i forget..in the knitting bag I was given are some metal prong like things but we dont know what they are lol! Basically two metal prongs with a square bar at the top of one - a bit like a wide chopstick - can photo if needed but wondered if anyone had any idea lol?!!
Have a lovely day all...sun is shining here!

    Good morning everyone,

ISOM it sounds like a hairpin lace needle, I'll look for info later. Having problems with ISP, might not be able to get back on. Bit naughty considering what they charge.

mioliere wouldn't alpacas be just lovely.

Chalky I need to get sewing machine out as well, but the sun is shining and garden calling loudly.

dpixie it all sounds so exciting, you should start a blog as well, with pics. As for knowing a farmer who throws away raw wool, words fail me!!

    Hope you're feeling better psso.

    Thinking of you Shez, hugs.

    Love to everyone xxx

    Morning all,

Looks like it's going to be a lovely day again, I've had my washing on the line since 7am!!!

Dpixie Good luck with all the moving preparations, it was hard enough when we moved from pembrokeshire to cumbria 3 years ago, exhausting but exciting at the same time. Sounds lovely where your going you'll be settled in no time.

Kathy have fun with the grass cutting, rather you than me I get terrible hayfever, wouldn't be able to see where I was going. lol!

Chalky Lappy 13 sounds lovely, glad to hear you didn't suffer to badly from the mozzies.

Right off to sort boys out, ((hugs)) for all.xx

Hi all. I'm still here, having managed to get out of the lawn-mowing because we are waiting for a delivery (nothing exciting, some tanking solution for the walls that we can't buy here, so it's coming from the UK via the excellent ParcelsPlease - well, excellent as long as they turn up!). Someone has to be in to sign for it - wish it was a parcel of wool! Anyway, DH has gone off to mow the lawns at the holiday home with written reminders to turn off the electrics there when he's finished and take a quick reccie round to check that nothing has gone wrong since our last check. Their first paying guests arrive on 1st July so we will take some supplies up there to keep them going until they can go shopping. It's a truly lovely house - not sure if we're allowed to post links? They have a lovely website with piccies and so on.

ISOM - lots of (((hugs))) to your poor Mum. I do hope you can persuade her to move; it would make life a lot easier for you both. My Mum moved last year to be closer to my sister, and I'm so glad she did. It's working out well for both of them because my sister is not in the best of health and having Mum around is doing her the world of good. It's reassuring for me being so far away to know that they have each other. That thing you have does sound like a hairpin lace thingie, as Kinsey has said. Just in case she can't get back online, here's a couple of links http://www.stitchdiva.com/custom.aspx?id=75 including one that shows you how to make one http://littleprojects.blogspot.com/2006/07/make-your-own-hairpin-crochet-loom.html There are some excellent tutorials online, too. I think I may have a go at making one - one day; another thing on the list!

Kinsey - hope you get your ISP sorted out soon.

Anyway, I have changed the bedlinen, put the second load of washing out, taken some more photos which I will try and put on my blog today, including one of a baby lizard that had obviously found itself in a cold spot and was waiting for the sun to get to him. He's still there now, such a tiny little thing. I hope he hasn't lost his mummy! I've also tried to take photos of our resident swallows who live in the barn. They used to make an agitated noise when we went in there but now that they are used to us, they just cheep at us instead!

Alpacas are something I've always wanted. I hear they make very good guard animals, as long as you have more than one, and they are very loyal. They were featured on Countryfile a few months ago (a favourite programme of mine) and they had two white ones and the most gorgeous chocolate brown one. Maybe one day, especially if I learned to spin so that I could justify having them. We have the space - it would be a shame to waste it!

It's really hotting up here now and we're in for a lovely day. I hope the UK is having the same.

Anyway, off to do some more chores.

    Have a great day.

  • Late again - that's me, grass cutting going well, but oh so hot!! I am in for lunch and a quick catch up, also need to find a pattern that will take only 100g of wool...its snazzy stuff and I feel it deserves to BE SOMETHING, if I fail I expect it would make great boobies.
Hope your all having a good day, doing only the things you love to do.

    this weeks update

I would like to think I could achieve a bit more next week - I am edging myself back into it slowly - can't you tell.
