MSE towers get together with the Debt charities and some of the very clever and great people from here and come up with a "basic" DFW playbook":o(for want of a better phrase)
And we can all use that be it newbie or oldie for refference:cool:

I think maybe it is better to have a challenges sub board.

I think you at least need to rename the DFW diaries board so newbies know where it is where to find the challenges.

I do think as a newbie I wouldn't realise the challenges were there. I wouldn't be on the board if it weren't for challenges and think they need to be very obvious e.g. PAD, Debt free birthday club, 1 debt 100 days etc

I think one of the main reasons that the challenges have been moved with the diaries is that for example this morning when I checked the board there was 14 (14!!!!!) challenges, clubs or other similar threads - there was less than half a dozen threads from people asking for help....
The main focus for DFW is to be here to offer help to people often feeling deeply desperate - but frankly they get drowned out by the running club, the book club, the £10 a day challenge, the challenge challenge, the No spend day challenge to mention but a handful...
A lot of regulars and old timers (I'd like to count myself as one although maybe without the old part...) have gradually left or drifted off because these threads become such a chore to work round in finding the threads where people have asked for help. I don't think it will EVER be possible to please everyone all the time, but trying to keep the board as easy to keep up with as possible for the cries for help I think takes precendence over all the various clubs and challenges. I think they have their place certainly! But they usually (not always) involve mainly regulars - and once people have gotten the initial help they need I have no doubt they will still find the challenges on the diaries board (or somewhere else) if they are interested in them

Anyway - why not give the change a chance?

I really dont have a problem with any of the diaries being on a sub board; it is clearly visible. I have had a diary on the main board for ages but in the last few days I have twice found an unanswered thread from a newbie on page 2 of DFW & would hate to think that my diary had caused a newbie to disappear into obscurity by being bumped off page 1

I am happy to give the new set up a chance but do agree with Tixy & others about having either a separte sub board for all the many challenges or at least have their new location incorporated into the Debt Free Diaries title, please .

The thing when I joined that made a differnce to me is ,not just the advice but seeing the ways people where dealing with there problems, different ways to get some extra money;)
and the comunity feeling
I got used to seeing people who had diaries posting on newbie threads, it gave me hope and inspiration :A
If I joined now , I don't think I would stay around

I agree with Lula about the change in board title, if we are gonna stay displaced, the board definately needs re-naming

I made this a sticky this morning, so that the explanation stayed on the front page for a bit. Seems to be getting enough attention anyway , so I'll undo that now.

A agree with 2 of the above comments.

1. I do think that only the older ones should be moved to the diary section.

2. The 1st page of this board is often full of just challenges, no what this board is for that is helping people with a specific debt problem.

So I think this suggests the need for a 2nd sub board, of money saving challenges with a sticky on this board pointing people to it. The challenges are great, they inspire people to work together, but then new posts push down individuals threads, which get lost or bumped by others.
