Moving more threads to DFW Diaries

Hi everyone
Just to give you a little forewarning, I'm going to be moving some more long-running, diary-type threads over to the diaries board. I'll put re-directs on them when I do it so anyone who's not seen this will know where they've gone.
You may not all feel they're diaries but they're close and the aim is so people, especially newbies, coming to the main debt-free wannabe board will have their questions seen and hopefully get answers.

I can understand the logic behind moving some of the ongoing or long running challenges across but maybe you could reconsider moving the monthly threads such as the October NSD challenge or the October make £10 a day challenge back to the main board. Sometimes threads like these are amongst the first newbies look at or post in. And they are a good way for newcomers to get to 'know' the regulars.
I also wonder if by moving all these threads across it may exacerbate the issues Wol2 highlighted recently (on site feedback) with even more of the experienced posters spending all their time just on the subboard.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Hi
Thanks for that, I'll have a think. I'm already leaving the daily chats on there for that reason and I figured if we apply the same reasoning to all threads then we'd be leaving them all there, and there's only so much room on the main board.
I've left the list of challenges sticky at the top of DFW, perhaps these threads could be linked to from there somehow. I'll take a look.
Thanks again
Andrea
PS., I'd hope that regulars that are happy to help people on the forum as well as look for advice for themselves will also carry on looking at the main board as well as the diaries.Could you do with a Money Makeover?

So do I..... in the past week on Payment a Day, we have had at least 6 newbies that I can remember sign up, then start their own thread/SOA etc. If we get dumped into the Diaries board, they won't find us..... the same with the challenges.... The more stuff you move OFF the main DFW board, the less regulars will be there to answer newbie's posts.
Please re-consider

Hey Andrea :hello:
Can I ask that PAD be moved back to the main board? It was the first challenge I joined as a n00b and I found it on the main board as it was near the top and seemed like such a simple DFW principle to start with (Over £3,000 of cleared debt since November seems to agree with me!)
I understand some of the challenges being moved, I really do, and feel free to move the Birthday Challenge I started as I think that one sits better with the diaries, but PAD should remain if possible.
Cheers

Hi Andrea
I totally agree with Sarah and Flying Fresian! Payment a day is the thread that made me start posting. Also like Sarah said we get loads of newbies joining all the time and I think it would be easier to find back on the main board.
ThanksDebt @ LBM - £25,722 Debt now - £11,811 DFD - April 2012
Payment a day challenge - 8/8/08 - £8669.73:jISA - £127.07
Sealed Pot Challenge #283 £489.50 for 2009//£353 for 2010
Stopped smoking 1/11/2010 - money saved so far:£5150 -
Would PAD work as a monthly challenge with a new thread each month? (I know you total up the monthly figures anyway).
Then maybe the distinction/reasoning for which board a challenge goes on could be based on anything monthly or weekly staying on the main board and long challenges such as DF in 2009 or Pay off £X in 2009 could be on the diary board?
Another problem is that if you look at the boards now (as I type) the diary board is actually now busier than DFW. On diaries there are 3.5pages on threads which have postings today but on DFW there are 2.5 (and excluding the moved threads which still show a link probably less than 2pages).A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Perhaps there needs to be a whole new, separate board from DFW called 'diaries and challenges'.
One of the problems with sub boards is that they're hard to find, especially as a noob.0 -
I agree with the padders!!Started PADdin' 13/04/09 paid £7486.66 - CC free 02/11/10
Aim for 2011 - pay off car loan £260.00 saved

We've had the suggestion in run club of a 'clubs' board - so could you do a challeneges and clubs one - not a sub board just one of its own??0
