You MUST do the first.
For the 2nd part, the easiest example is the wall of an empty property. Who do you give your details to?
The reporting part does not over ride the need to stop.
The feeling threatened would hardly come into play for an incident described by the op. As a rule the courts don't take too kindly to offences of failing to stop. In most cases it's to cover something up like excess alcohol.
Read it again, the "1st" says you need to report it, it doesn't say there and then.
Technically no offense is commited if you hit someone, come to a standstill then drive off and report the issue and give details at a police station or similar, strange but thats the lawI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
What happened to the good old days when the obvious thing to do when you saw some else struggling to achieve something would have been to offer help .
Maybe next time if you put down your book and got out the car and volunteered to watch the back end of the ladies car ..you would both have left with something positive to say about the experience ..0 -

Thanks for this great advice. Next time I see her trying to reverse into a car parking space that is too small for her car I will of course, put down my book, get out of the car and let her know she is being a moron.
The fact is, the thing she was "struggling to achieve" was impossible. It looked like she was turning her car to look for a different space when she was suddenly struck by the idea that the space must have got bigger by her facing the other way.
I don't know where your from, but the place I was parking at is NOT a nice area and people have had bricks thrown through their windows for doing a lot less than critizing some one's driving.
Thanks for implying that I was being selfish for being concerned about the front of my car (I have only had it for a month). I came on this site looking advice, not to be preached to my someone that obviously didn't read my first thread.
As to everyone else who had something useful to say, thank you very much for your advice. There was only a small scrap on the front of my car which I managed to "T-Cut" out so I will be taking no further action.
Cheers
Pete

Peter,
Further to your last thread, your right, that woman MUST have been a complete moron!
The sad thing is that she has banged your car and driven off so, how many times has she done this to other cars!?
I agree with previous threads that this would be a waste of police time but they wouldn't do anything anyway so really it would be your time wasted.
How disapointing that you came to this forum for advice and have had responses that imply YOU were in the wrong. I disagree that you should have helped her; sod her, if that idiot woman can't park her car she shouldn't be driving!
I think you have done the right thing not taking it any further though it's not worth your time or effort.
I used to own a Mondeo and every time I left it in a supermarket car park I would return to see a new scuff where idiot people had scraped it with their car. Not once did anyone have the decency to go to customer services and request to speak to the owner of the car. An apology would have been enough.
What made me really angry though was when I was rear ended by a driver who promised to pay for the repairs privately, but after two days of excuses I had enough and contacted my insurance company. It was then that I was told that he didn't have insurance.
I gave his details to the police and was told by the officer that nothing would happen. Worse still when I came to renew my insurance policy the following year my renewal was high. When I questioned why I was told that my insurance company had logged that bump as an 'incident' despite me never making a claim for the damage to my car (I drove around with a broken bumper until I got rid of the car last year). No matter which company I went to the premium had increased by £30-£40 and I had to declare that bump for the following 5 years.
Unfortunately the law is messed up in this country; so the criminals get away with too much!
I know that maybe wasn't very helpful to you this time but thought you might like to know that you aren't on your own.
Sorry for going on a bit0 -
I have her make/model/reg and was just wondering if anyone reading this would take it further. I don't know if my car is damaged (as it was dark and my car was quite dirty) but the fact is she knew I was in the car and didn't even bother to come and say sorry.
So another vehicle hits yours whilst you're sat in it and you don't even bother to get out and have a look to see if there's any damage (as it's dark and dirty !!!!!).
Instead, now it's light, you come on an internet forum and ask for points of view ?
Who are you trying to kid ?0 -

I did bother to get out and look but, as I said, IT WAS DARK and MY CAR WAS DIRTY so I couldn't see the scrape. Am I not saying this right??
Yet another constructive comment!!:T0
