I issued two complaints to MBNA over PPI using the template letters. I reached the Ombudsman stage. As my credit cards were issued way back in the 90s the Ombudsman concluded they could not act as MBNA were not regulated by whoever at the time of issue.

Last week I received two letters from MBNA stating they had been told to review their original decision, the result, they were crediting my two accounts with a total of just over £5k. This 'refund' has in effect given me a zero balance on both cards and saved me nearly £250 p/m in minimum payments. Result :j
Wow, and this was for credit cards as well and all the work of the FSA had focused on was to do with unsecured loans and they are redressing and now opening credit cards too. This was not due to start yet but so pleased for you. This is fab news. Just hope that the secured loans ones do it also... Great news and what a surprise for you.:T:T:T:T

After what Marshallka have been through for more than a year, it would be fantastic if this would be the case for her, its been an agonising one for Marshallka and it would make her day "and ours" if they would just pay out without her having to wait and to go through all the agro again.

I am praying now this will be the case for Marshallka and they will award her big time for this one.

    Me too!!!!:j

brilliant cant wait for Marshallka to read this! Your complaints were not even covered by the FOS and they still had to review it!
I thought MBNA was a bank though and it would have been under FOS regardless as under the old banking ombudsman scheme. This is fab and gives load of peeps fresh hope.

I thought that too Marshallka, but I thought HFC would be covered for my complaint in 2000 but because it wasnt a bank loan but goods from a shop it is classed as different, so maybe that is the case with MBNA in the 1990's and credit cards?

This will not affect mine as its for misselling and FP are not responsible for the sale. I wish it was though:eek:. I did try to make them responsible since day one but "puter said no!!!".... Can you imagine if they suddenly accepted responsibility for this and sent a redress.. Not a cat in hells chance. They got off with mine but will not get out of everyones like they do and have done.

I only had my co-op complaint and this FP complaint. Mine is not covered as FP did not sell anything. My rebate complaint is not a PPI related as such complaint and is a hard one again cause of jursidicition issues. My actual sale was before the FSMA which is where the Ombudsman came about from. Its difficult. I was at one time told it would come under compulsory jursidiction and now "there are problems"...???

But good for others.. that counts too in that they are not able to get away with things like they have done. Mine is not over quite yet but at least I know i have gone about it all ways. Just have to be patient now.
