  • Tasks actioned yesterday...

sorted out bedroom drawers and bedside table and got rid of 3 bin bags worth of stuff, not much that i could ebay to be honest just a load of old t-shirts with holes in ect. got rid of all my old lotions that i keep sying i'll use up ect so bedroom is feeling a little bit more organised. Need to start on the wardrobe now and this is the hard part as i don't know what to get rid off and what to keep, the only real 'classic' things that i own are a beige trench/mac style coat and some boot cut jeans neither of which i ever wear. all my other stuff is random fashion bits and bobs and nothing goes with one another. so my thinking is that as i have 2 days off a week i proberly only need a couple of wearable outfits that i can instantly put togther instead of spending an hour trying everything on. easy right!!!!!!!!

booked appointment to get hair cut tommorrow hoping it wont but a hole in my budget for this month, bought hair dye £5.49 so apart from my paper on sunday thats all i have spent since friday. also phoned doctors and made appointment for later in the month for a smear test, im ashamed to say at the age of 38 i have only ever had 1. so this is something i'm gonna have to force myself to get on with.

loads of sunshine about today so think its a good day to get some washing on the line.

healthy eating started yesterday- special k for breakfast
tuna sandwhich and crisps for lunch
beef goulash and baked potatoe for dinner and a choc chip muffin for desert. ok s not exactly 'healthy' but not overeating if you know what i mean.

right need to make a move now- updates later.

  • Drum roll please................. I have been to the gym:j! and guess what I actully enjoyed it, had more energy afterwards and was in a much better mood for the rest of the day. Why can't i remember that feeling when i'm talking myself out of going. Anyway will go again tommorrow, have been watching what i'm eating as well and i am aiming to try and get my 5 a day instead of dieting.

not going so well with the money saving. got hair cut today and despite me only asking for a 'trim' it cost me £36:eek: and no, its not some fancy city centre salon, just a local one. had to put it on credit card so i'm fuming now. then felt at a loose end this afternoon so ended up in Tesco and manged to blow the remainder of the food budget for this month and also £20 of my own cash:( Why do I do it??????????

  • Well done on going to the gym and liking it, sometimes its just the getting there that puts you off, ok once there.

Don't beat yourself up about the spending, just move on to the next goal, otherwise you'll find yourself sliding back again.

Capsule wardrobe sounds like a good idea. I get round that by buying black pants and skirts, and then just having long sleeved T shirts.

  • Still not managed to build the capsule wardrobe, feel a bit ovewhelmed every time i open the wardrobe door, instead me and oh have been out looking for a new kitchen. Not going to buy just yet as we need some minor building work done first and still need to decide on our budget and how we are going to finance it but it was good to get a few ideas and an idea of a rough price. a no spend day today and me and oh still not smoking so all good.

  • well, we spent most of yesterday looking around kitchen showrooms and dreaming and planning our new kitchen ect, spent most of last night looking on the internet at more showrooms to visit today and then spent most of last night lying awake worrying about how we are going to pay for it and terified of taking out another loan to pay for it all. i think i have been in a bit of denial at how much it is all going to cost. i don't think we will get the kitchen ad appliances for less than 7k and there is some other work that will need doing aswell. all in all i think that we will be looking at well over 10k and i now really don't want to take out another loan.

i have been thinking............ our car loan finishes next month which will mean an additional £240 per month. what if we saved this money and tried to pay for it without getting into any further debt???

list of jobs that need doing in kitchen.

old brick shed that is attached to back of kitchen knocked down to enable us to put in a bigger window.

extension needs rendering as plaster has started to crack outside and think this is why we have damp.

    damp proof course

    new boiler.

    new back door

    inside walls and ceilings re-plastered

    new kitchen.

i think we will be able to get the jobs done by the end of this year without too much hardship and then start saving for the kitchen. or do i just get another loan and get it all done at once?

decisions need to be made. oh will go along pretty much with what i suggest in fact i think he will be in favour for saving up for it, its just me that needs convincing.

    Hi BP

I think it's a good idea to save up for the kitchen. I think you'll regret getting a loan. £10k is a lot of money to add to your debt. Then there's the interest on top of that. Don't get another loan - you're doing so well with everything else it would be a shame to ruin it.

Glad you're enjoying the gym - it always makes you feel good afterwards doesn't it? Sometimes I really don't feel like exercising but I always enjoy it in the end.

Have a great weekend and good luck with the capsule wardrobe!

  • Good idea to save the loan money towards kitchen, but have a look at the snowball calculator and see if it would be better to put that off one of the other debts and save yourself the interest on them. Depends on how high the interest is off course. Your kitchen sounds like mine. So much needs doing and its knowing where to start.

  • Thanks for the advise regarding the loan. I know you are both right. to be honest thinking about it, it would be unlikely we would even get a loan now as i have struggeld to even get accepted for a credit card so i can balence transfer. i havn't mentioned anything yet to oh about what i am thinking and need to mull it over a bit more. yes 10k would be a lot to add on to our debt at this point.

other updates- not much going on. plan to get back to the gym proper when i'm back at work as it gives me so much energy afterwards so the plan is to go again tommorrow.

hope you all had a great valentines day.
    xx

You're doing brilliant with the no smoking! My OH put on weight when he first stopped. I think it may be something to do with getting your tastebuds back and feeling the need to put something in your mouth. Don't let it put you off though - it's more important to give up smoking. The weight issue can be tackled at a later date.

Hope you're having a good day off.
