I am afraid that is complete bollox. There is a a difference between £5 earphones and £35 earphones that even a cloth-eared bint like you could detect.

The reason that your iPod earphones lasted three months is (a) they are worth a good deal less than £5 and (b) you are a dyspraxic baboon.

And what was that barrage of abuse in aid of? Me offering my opinion to the OP? I haven't insulted anyone on here so why am I being insulted?

I like good ear/headphones but couldn't pay £35 because i'm clumsy and they hurt my ears as I think mine are small. I am tempted to get a good noise cancelling pair next time i'm on a plane but bet they don't work. My current ones are £6.99 from Argos and i'm on my third set since January:o...er..
OP- your friend should ask for a replacement if they are faulty.

like i said sennheiser cx500's of play.com are brilliant and a great deal.

have 6 different buds to choose from and if you spend some time trying them all you can get very good comfort and excellent noise cancellation (you need to take them out to hear what the person on the plane next to you is saying even without music)
    Back by no demand whatsoever.

I have reported you for that post Halloway.

This site is not for insulting people on, go somewhere else if you want to do that. Can't anyone on here have a normal conversation, with differences in opinions without someone being offensive and rude? You should be ashamed.

Feel free to highlight where I have been insulting.
I said that I would not waste money on cheap earphones, unlike melorablack.
I also said if melorablack believed that earphones were worth no more than £5 then they should stick with that.

In what way is that insulting?

EDIT - I meant to say I shall await your reply to see what you say before I report your post for name calling. I do not like being called a "nasty piece of work" and find it abusive.

I will thank you :D ...you're nice and friendly aren't you with that attitude!

And what is unfriendly about suggesting that you stick with what you believe?
If you are happy with your cheap earphones then fine.

I would not be but to each their own.

Mine (cx500's) were 18 quid about 6 months ago and worth every penny. Oh and in response to the original poster. Doesnt matter 2 hoots about whether the packaging is there or not. If they are defective after 2 days then HMV should, and I suspect will replace them. Not that I would advocate theft but if they came with ear bud attachements then you may want to keep hold of the set that fits your lugs and stick the other sized ones on when you return them. lets face it they wont care they will be straight back to Sony.

after about 2 days of playing music, one side developed some buzzing sound whilst playing music. It's the earphones itself because it was tested on my laptop and other MP3s and still had this buzzing sound.

and back to the original question. There is no problem with a refund as they are being returned because they are faulty. You are right that "intimate" stuff like earphones are often excluded from "changed your mind" refunds as they can't be resold

Oh grow up - there's much worse things in the world than being called names over the internet you silly little girl. As for running off and telling 'teacher' if that's how you solve all your problems you're in for a shock in your life.

As to the OP - as has been said you can return them as they're faulty, it's the shops responsibility not the manufacturer (no matter what they may tell you).

While you are right and its not the worse thing in the world being called names on the internet, but why should people have to accept it?

People come on here wanting advice and as soon as their is any conflict in opinions, the mud slinging starts.

This website used to be useful and informative, but now it has been over ridden by self proclaimed "experts" who feel that as they have a little bit of knowledge, they have the justification to belittle people.

I think that moderators should be informed if somebody is being insulting. For example, why did you feel the need to call her a "silly little girl" in the above post. You would have alot more respect and credibility if you didn't feel the need to include crude and childish comments in your post.

In future can peopel please please please give useful help, and if you disagree, back it up with your own point of view and information.
