Spent a whole 45p today on a packet of crisps at work. I've been off food this week so haven't really been eating a lot, but felt a bit peckish today so thought I better eat something.

Shouldn't need a great deal for next week as this weeks meals will now be next weeks (how many times can I say weeks :p)

Second spend of the month: £62,45 in COSTCO (in and out in 40 minutes, so I'm pretty chuffed). £149.81 left in the pot.

Big kisses all round to my fellow grocery challengers! :T

    Hi all,

Outdoor Lass - Where do you buy your meat from? It seems good value, I have been looking at the meat/veg box schemes and at ~£60, I would have to do some seriously creative cooking/eating and keep other spends to an absolute bare minimum.

    Hi

I ordered it from Clairebarry.co.uk, it arrived today and so far we have had some of the bacon which was lovely, very thick cut and very tasty, also had some of the pork sausages for dinner with eggy bread and beans and they were beautiful, no nasty hard bits in them:D As far as I can see the meat is ethically sourced too, if you look at where is your meat from section, it tells you about it there:D They even swapped the lamb items for me, as we don't eat baa lambs in this house, I am so far very impressed with them. If you do decide to give them a try, PM me to swap emails, I can recommend you via their website and I think we both get vouchers!

Regarding the fair trade items you were talking about, don't know if this helps, but I have recently been introduced to Sainsburys basics thanks to this site:D The teabags are lovely, we are total converts and I am fussy about my tea, only drinking Twinnings before, they are 28p for a box of 80 and they are fair trade, also the basics bananas are fair trade and they are lovely too:D

HTH and I hope your cold gets better soon xx

  • My OH spent £7.00 today on milk, bread and pizza. Unfortunately the small tea party that I was having for my daughters birthday tomorrow has turned into a party for 10 adults, 10 kids and 2 babies!!!! I have no idea what I'm going to give them to eat!?! On the plus side my mum has offered to make some homemade pasties but on the down side 2 of the children are unable to eat wheat and gluten!

First grocery spend of the month ... at the overpriced  local store..

Milk and a slab of ginger cake (my weakness). I have definitely got to do a proper shop tmrw. Before my LBM I would think of nothing of popping in there for a few things three or four times a week which added up to lots. Now I do proper weekly shops at a cheaper supermarket..

Hi everyone just joined today and lovin all your posts and great ideas. I have a family of 4 incl 2 teenagers and am totolly lost as to budgeting OH just changed jobs and money is now tight not sure how much to aim for but I think 280 might just do it. I am hoping with all your help and tips to cut this soon. XX

Welcome aboard scotmumof3 - I just joined the GC last month and am amazed at what a difference it makes actually just to THINK about the money you spend - stops you thinking, ooh, I'll just nip in to Tesco's while I'm passing - I found that was where all the money used to go. I have two teenagers too - DD is all right but DS is a junk food junkie and eats me out of house and home plus DH can be cutting himself chunks of cheese to eat AS I'M DISHING UP THE DINNER

Good luck with it anyway, I'm sure you'll notice a big difference too.
