I ordered a printer (thanks OP
) and it arrived three days later. I've set it up and am really pleased with it except for one thing. When I print anything out I get two slight creases at the top of the page about 1cm in from either side. Both creases go down the page for a few cms and seem to be caused by the pinch rollers pressing up too hard against the plastic guides at the point where the paper exists the printer.
It's not a heavy crease and for everyday use I could probably live with it but for anything important, it does spoil the overall presentation.
Anyway, just wondered if anyone else is getting this and whether this is normal and I am being too picky, or do I have a duff model?0 -

Ordered a HL-2040 for a friend late last Wednesday and it got shipped Friday and delivered Monday morning and set it up last night.
Few bits of experience to help others :
DO write down the ENTIRE serial number from the label on the back as you will need that ENTIRE serial number to do the online registration (the box label only has the critical last 9 digits).
DO insert the CD as instructed as it has a rather good animated intro about setting it up and where to press the toner/drum unit in etc.
Do NOT be misled by the setup leaflet about printing a TEST PAGE. The way they tell you to do it is NOT going to work so do NOT be discouraged when your printer won't print the test page! (If you want a test page you need to follow the process detailed in the PDF Manual on the CD.)
The CD driver for USB installed and worked first time but seemed a bit old with a 2004 date - their own online update process wasn't working last night. However WINDOWS UPDATE found an updated driver (dated 2005) that installed and worked fine, as did sharing the printer over local network.
Seems a bargain - and so fast after a £35 inkjet printer! - though only issue of doubt is how new the toner cartridge/drum assembly are - was just in a sellotaped black bag rather than a sealed packaging. Apparently the 'starter' cartridge (if it IS one) may NOT be refillable and have to buy a regular/new cartridge (eg c£35 on Amazon) and THEN refill that in future.0 -
If you do the following to print a printer settings page it tells you how many pages have been printed. Mine had a 180 pages printed so I guess it wasn't really brand new although it does look new.
Press the Go button three times within 2 seconds. The printer will print the current printer settings page0 -
