OP I could've written this post myself! My mum is the EXACT same!! Luckly my mum lives very far away so she doesn't visit very often but i have to bite my tongue on many occaisions when I talk to her on the phone. I don't want to offend her either by telling her the truth so just grit my teeth and bare it and be glad she lives so far away :beer:0

"You are being rude and nasty. It's unnecessary. Pack it in." in a bored tone is working with a relative of mine, although it is taking a number of months to make a vast improvement.
I agree that you shouldn't worry about offending her.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
Ah, i wish i could give you some advice but i can't cos my mother is a waste of space too!
Luckily she doesn't bother coming to visit, since it's obviously too much effort for her to leave her house apart from to go to the local shop for her bottles (yes, plural) of wine every day and then spends her life on the internet on stupid chat rooms which she cares more about than her grandkids.
She and my sister have fallen out big time and although mother pees me off no end, i stay civil cos she's handy for picking DS up from school if i'm really stuck (well she uses everyone else so i don't feel guilty!). So with us having no other family and we usually all spend Xmas together i'm torn in the middle now of who to spend Christmas with and they're making no effort to realise that i should have a newborn baby by then so quite frankly could do without the drama and pressure.
You kinda come to the conclusion that your mother is a waste of time when your OH leaves you at 5 months pregnant, and she knows you have nobody else to helkp you out yet she refuses to come to any scans with you .
So, lets lock our crappy mothers in a room and beat them. IMO :rotfl:0
