Best thing Apple can do is keep it as far away from Three as possible *shudder*

Why shudder? What with 3 having the largest 3g network in the uk it seems like a match made in heaven

I think he was referring to their terrible customer support call centres in India.
Try to imagine nothing ever existed...

I am sure Apple will take that into consideration when assessing 3 as a network partner. The iPhone is a premium product and buyers will expect good customer service to go with it :)

Competition may bring lower prices and tariffs.

But you know what REALLY saves money? Considering very hard whether or not we need such devices at all - or at least the more expensive ones.

I'm sure that for many people the iPhone is a godsend. But -among the hype and the peer pressure - how many of the 1000s of purchasers REALLY need one? Damn few I suspect.

Get a grip people. I'm not saying you shouldn't buy an iPhone - it's a free country. But this website is all about saving money. The savings on not buying an iPhone at all are substantial.

And there are good alternatives to the iPhone now. I've just upgraded with Vodafone to a Nokia 5800 for free (and new customers can get it for free on a 2 year contract at £15 per month), which many say is better than an iPhone in lots of ways.

Quite a lot of those no longer apply since the software update to Ver 3.0, I think anyone that has used Symbian v iPhone, would always take the iPhone.

True, but this forum is all about financial saving and comparing:
    Nokia 5800 - £15 per month for 2 years
    iPhone 3G - £35 per month for 2 years

What does the iPhone give you to justify paying an extra £20 per month (stand back and think about how much that is for a sec, an extra £480 over the 2 year contract).

As a long time Nokia fan, having had many and varied models, I would choose the iphone now. For the extra money you get a much better phone (IMHO)

cheaper is not always the best value for money

    Damn good point.

As for 3 remember that they might have the largest spread but some of it isnt their own network so they arnt an ideal partner. When/if the t-orange merger goes ahead the could lose coverage.

final point; people will always do what they feel is right for themselves regardless of the imput of others the reg has an interesting article about the iphone branding which attracts people to the phone.
