I have just started a spreadsheet and keep a diary (and have discovered why i have no money - food)!

What do you put on your spreadsheet any advice on layout/set up would be great

(Sorry its abit off topic- might help my NSD's though x)
Just a very basic layout--I'm not technically gifted y'see :o I'm doing one spreadsheet a month, but considering changing it to one per catagory so as to spot price or size deferential better. Across the top are headings for:- Date, Store, Item, Quantity, Catch weight (for loose items like grapes), Price per Kilo, Price Each, Special Offer (& I put in Reduced to Clear [Whoopsies!] too) & finally Total.
Then going down the page I've got catagories for:- Dairy, Deli, Frozen Savory, Frozen Sweet, Fruit, Meat & Fish, Miscellaneous, Store, Tinned, Veg, Other (gifts mainly) Petrol, NSD & Coupons (to see what I've used). So, like last week I bought 8 yoghurts from a MrT SIZE=1]I also put which branch for some obscure reason[/SIZE. In Dairy & following the headings in order:-
    1. TB. muller. 8. 165g. X. 52. 4-4-200. 400.
I put in the weights where I can, to see if the manufacturers 'improve' the recipe & put the price up while the size goes down
I'm hoping to join in the 4K Challenge from January so am practising various methods of record-keeping now :p It also gives a kind of inventory too, apart from crossing something off once used of course, so perhaps you could add a column for that.
I keep trying to menu-plan in order to avoid the 'what shall we have for dinner' spending.....least said methinks!, but I am getting better :o

Hope you guys don't find this too off topic, & I really would welcome any suggestions to help reduce spending so get yer finn-kinn caps on :cheesy:

Unfortunately there will be no NSD for me today.

Had to fork out £90 for my monthly train ticket and also think it is time I invested in a umbrella (got soaked on my way home from work yesterday)
