I bought one of the 1st Dysons to come out. Don't know if I was unlucky, but mine died very quickly, but not before the pull-out pipe had had a big crack in it, got impossible to put back in without a fight, as for no loss of suction, ah!
I've heard they got better, so maybe newer consumers know otherwise.
