But can I take 20 books at a time and get 4 cards I wonder?? (As I am about to spend money at Ikea and get rid of books, its could be a great deal for me!)
Well you could if you took some-one with you I guess, and they handed in some of your books. I was going to do that and go round twice.........worth a try0 -

maybe you should take some family members with you and each of you can bring some books, always a good thing to teach your kids about charity and encouraging reading0 -

Does anyone know if the £5 giftcard can just be used on its own for something costing £5 and therefore getting it for free, or do you have to spend a certain amount to be able to use it?It's 5 o'clock somewhere!0

Hi, found this: http://www.ikea.com/ms/en_GB/about_ikea/press/consumer_press_material/billy.html
"From September 28 to October 11 2009 customers will be encouraged to bring a minimum of five of their unwanted books to any IKEA store in the UK. These books will then be donated to local Save the Children charity shops up and down the country, where they will be sold on. Profits from the sales will go towards the Save the Children charity fund, helping to continue important work in saving children’s lives around the world. In return for their book donation, IKEA customers will receive a £5 IKEA gift card to spend in store . "
Great for decluttering your home, great for the charity and £5 to boot.:TDeclutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

Hi, just been to the Gateshead IKEA and handed over some books.
There's only one poster at the entrance that mentions the book donations (in very small writing at the bottom, after advertising 30 years of Billy bookcases), and no previous donations in sight. I had to ask a member of staff where I should deliver the books. She was lovely and took them there and then, asking me to sign for the gift card. No address or other details asked for.
I've benefitted from so many of the posts on MSE that I've finally taken the plunge and registered here myself. Hope I can pass on something useful too.
Thanks to everyone who's already here!Mirror, mirror, on the wall.I am my mother after all!0 -
