A "grey import" may actually be destined for this country. The term applies to imports that do not come through the manufacturer's/agent's "official" channels.
These "official" channels are described (by the manufacturer !) as a method of guaranteeing the correct quality and to ensure that the goods are only sold by the "right" standard of outlet, etc, etc, etc...........

what it actually is is a method of keeping the prices and profit margins higher than they could/should be.

Having said that - it is not unknown for manufacturers themselves to dump excess stock into the grey market to try and recover the costs of over production.

Update - LG never responded to email through "contact us" page so I called them. One agent was investigating and said they would get back to me - never did. Another agent told me straight away that the country couldn't be changed but "there may be codes on the Internet that would let me do this".

So no further forward really.

Any other ideas or suggestions welcome.
