    Afternoon all,

Overcast but not cold here to-day, have stripped bed and bedding is now in machine, will hang out later on and DD4 can take it in whenever during the week.

We had brunch at 12 so dinner will be 6 or so...lamb chops with leeks and maybe turnip, with potatoes, apple charlotte for pudding if I get round to making it.

Happy birthday Mr MSD...hope that the mushroom kit works for you.

Trying to upload pictures onto Facebook earlier, only succeeded with profile one...pleased with it as I cut off my fat multiple chins!

Molly...hugs, try not to worry about your children so much...I found that very hard to do when mine were in late teens but managed to stop being paranoid some years ago....mind you offspring wouldn't agree with me, they reckon that I am only happy when I am worrying about one or other of them!

Hoping to get packing finished to-day as then I can relax and enjoy the trip to-morrow.

Hugs and kind thoughts for all who are ill or struggling to recover, congratulations to all who are celebrating and take care everybody....back around 6th Oct.

Marie, have a great trip xx
  • Thanks for all the good wishes everyone but I'm feeling much better. :D

Have prepped all the veg for tongiht and tommorrow and baked a dozen rocky road muffins, a dozen maple and pecan muffins, a banana and walnut loaf and an apple crumble.

Meal plan is done for the week and just need to persuade OH to interrupt his game of monopoly to help me hoover.

    Have a lovely trip Marie.

    Haribo x

    Good afternoon.

I cleaned the house and washed, dried and ironed all of the uniform yesterday, so ds and I have been on a small trip to the zoo today. I've also made chocolate cakes in petit four cases for ds's lunchbox. The standard size ones are too big if I want him to eat his sandwiches too, but I like him to have a little something yummy in there now and then. I made 36 of them, so I've just taken some to a friend who passed me in some cooking apples last night.

Marie, your photos are great! We had a collie and he was a great character.

NPM, I carry on wheezing for a while after I've had a cold. The last time I "soldiered on" I was told I was in the middle of a major asthma attack by the time I thought I'd better see a doctor, so I think it would be wise to see your GP again, just to be on the safe side.

Haribo, please remind your sister that I am not a million miles from your niece and will happily go and treat the student one to coffee and a naughty cake if it is required....

    Take care all of you

    Afternoon, all!

Woke up today absolutely stiff and with my back in knots. Yesterday I spend seven hours sitting in a marquee spinning and talking about spinning, whilst sitting on a hard folding chair. Owwwww my back did not appreciate this! Thank goodness though it was a beautiful warm dry day, otherwise I probably wouldn't have been able to get out of bed at all. The things I do for my craft, lol.

So today I have been taking it easy. DD didn't have crack-of-dawn swimming club today so got a bit of a lie in. DH and DS went off to a rugby fixture so they disappeared off and all I had to do was take DD to gymnastics and nip round Tesco while she was there, lob in a couple of loads of laundry and try to get more mobile again. In the afternoon she had to find and write out a healthy recipe for the school healthy eating project, so I got her to help mix the marinade up for the quick and easy spicey chicken thighs from the Economy Gastronomy book, then helped her write out the simplified version for the homework. Extra kudos for actually made and eaten the recipe, I hope!

Apart from that (and making the biryani rice to go with the chicken) I intend to have a quiet day.

Was looking at the freezer and larder today, and working out what I had still to harvest up on the allotment. I think I might have a minimal spend week next week...just buy the absolutey basic necessities like milk, eggs etc and eat from stores for a week. £20 max including two lots of school lunches for the kids. Get ahead of myself a bit on the food budget, what with C-mas coming up.
    Val.

Marie - have a fabulous time, and enjoy all the lovely food there and the rest away from everything x

This weekend really seems to have involved a lot of rushing around, so grabbing a quiet (ish) hour alone. It's great living in a little village in the middle of nowhere, but not so great when there is no public transport, well there's one bus a day in and out of the next village or on the very boundary of ours, both about 2 miles away! So yesterday was in car to drop ds at station, pick him up, take dd2 to party, collect her, go to shops, collect oh from work, retrieve some of my bbq stuff from his flat - argh! Today took and collected ds from rugby training, ran oh into work, have just taken dd1 and dd3 shopping for trainers and bits, thankfully dd2 is off sailing today and has lifts there and back! Doesn't sound much when I look at it, but boy does it seem to take a lot of time! Okay, moan over! I do love living here really!

Anyhoo, made twinks and gave god daughter's biggest sis the recipe - bet her dad loved me when he got her home and she wanted to cook straight away, her mum was out today, but I do know that she has all the ingredients as we both share a love of cooking and are often to be found nosing in each others cupboards!

Collected ds and brought him home, he then cycled off to BK with his mate (motorway services are a couple of miles from our house) and I took dd1 and dd3 shopping - think they are grasping the OS concepts as neither was prepared to pay the silly prices some trainers cost - just as well, cos nor was I! Finally found a sale and got some trendy retro Adidas trainers for both of them, also managed to find some more school shoes for dd3, her feet have grown, sigh! Got dd1's christening outfit too, she looks lovely in it, hopefully her dad will think it's okay as well.

Nipped into Mr T's as we were in the carpark there, and sadly there was nobody in to do the reductions, so there was very little to buy! Did get 3 chooks for £10, usually get from farm shop, but didn't make it on Friday and I want oh to show me how to joint them properly later (that'll test his patience, he hates watching me with a knife!) Anyway I shall report back on my butchering progress tomorrow!

Dinner is now roast chicken, beef didn't look that great even though it was on offer! Will wait for my ordered cow to be slaughtered I think.

Must put some bread and yoghurt on in a bit ready for school lunches. Also want to have a peek at wine - put a white wine on this morn from a tin, and made some blackberry wine (they picked a lot of berries yesterday and my girls will be picking me some more later when they take the dog out!), so hopefully will all taste lovely in a few weeks, and very moneysaving!

Must remember to change clubcard vouchers into wine vouchers tomorrow, as I think the deadline for doing this is the end of Sept, though the vouchers are valid for 3 months, so will do nicely for Christmas and any future offers!

Off to peel potatoes for mash, not putting oven on just for roasties, and do some veg! After dinner will be collecting oh and taking his sister's new coat off to a seamstress friend for repairs, the zip has broken and his sis was going to throw out her expensive new coat! Oh was shocked and slightly horrified, hence volunteering to get a new zip put in for her! Then it's butchery time, woohoo!

Have a good evening all xx

    afternoon!

have done all my jobs including the mowing so now got tea cooking and feet up!
DS1 has visited and mended my sisters PC. Not seen or heard from DS2 since yesterday evening when he went camping with friends(he's 17) and his phone is off:mad:. If he doesn't return by dark we'll go and look for him - we know roughly where he is.am a bit worried as I thought hunger would have brought him back by now!

I have also re-counted my hoodie collection and the total is 18:D I think I'm addicted!

Meanmarie - hope you have a good trip!

    haribo - glad you're feeling better x

hope you all have a good evening x

edited to say DS2 has finally arrived home - in dire need of a bath and food!

  • Afternoon all

Well we are back from a lovely weekend away in caravan. Finally got to go around Jorvik museum yest and had a lovely stroll around York in the sunshine. Came back at lunchtime today and have not stopped since.

When we walked in we could smell an odd (nasty) smell in the kitchen :eek:and I have now emptied and cleaned every cupboard, the fridge, freezer, behind the microwave and TD and WM. Oh has had the plinth off the bottom of the cupboards and we still haven't found anything:mad: So much for a relaxing weekend! All washing from weekend now on line although it has come over all dark so not sure I will get it completely dry!

Haribo/Cranky count me in on the support side for Dniece, I have girls around that age too (well maybe a little older - now 25 and 23, I keep forgetting how time flies!) so know how strung out they can become!

Happy Birthday Mr Diva (what IS the male equivalent of a DIVA????)

    Marie have a great trip

    Evening peeps

well today has really flown by, its starting to go dark now so i shall go fetch the mop and bucket out of the shed to clean the floors shortly. I won`t venture into the shed after dark as all the crawlies come out to play.

I waved DH off who set off later than expected around ten this morning and then got cracking, the washing has been brought in all lovely and fresh and dry then i put another load out and finally the dog beds, all of it is now dry and folded and two of the dog beds are put back together and the other two will be done later.

The bathroom has been scrubbed and the bedroom too, the windows upstairs have been cleaned on the inside and all upstairs hoovered. I need to do the stairs, landing and kitchen in a while and then i shall do the ironing. May get round to cleaning the living room later but if not i shall do that in the morning as i have to wait in for a parcel to be delivered so no great loss there.

I have a piece of brisket thawing in the kitchen ready for the slowcooker overnight, tomorrow i shall make potted beef for the freezer, i have been waiting for the ramekins to be emptied from the liver and bacon pate that i made a few weeks ago and i now have enough to make a start. DH loved the pate so its on my make again list as i`m sure the potted beef will be too.

I spotted the sandisk flash drives on offer on another site so popped down to Morrisons to pick up one for me and one for Dad, great bargain for anyone who needs one 4GB for a fiver, i did have to ask at the counter though as they were not out on display.

I spent an hour earlier washing the car and then cut the grass on the back garden so everything is rosy outside just now, i do have some pots that could do with a bit of attention so i`ve added those to my list for later this week.

Haribo - Glad you`re feeling better

MSD - Wish your OH Happy Birthday from me

MeanMarie - Have a fantastic holiday!

I`m off down the garden whilst i can still see where things are.:D

    Have a great evening peeps.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p
